Saw the Jerry Douglas Band last night. Great show, but standing in front of Jerry 3 people back from the stage for most the night can have that effect. He's so good.
Considered myself VERY lucky to be able to watch one of the masters unobstructed from 15 feet away.
Hot guitarist Mike Seal, and fiddle player Christian Sedelmyer, who had just arrived from Hong Kong yesterday, were standouts.
Sax player was great also but not sure it's the same guy from the album. Looked a little different.
His new album is not straight away bluegrass. It's called "What If". He said "What If' can mean a lot of things, but one would be, what if a dobro player had a horn section?
Lots of good music last night. One of the best shows of the year for me. Check out the title track and others off this link if you wish. It will give you an idea of how he's expanding the boundaries.

I was in remiss to ask you if you liked Jerry Douglas Slickrock. Very glad you saw his show & liked it.
My father and I saw Jerry Douglas and his band in August at my 3rd row seats at the Boulton Center.
Both of us agree he is "hands down-bare-none", the best musician we have ever seen.
After the show I was the first to meet & greet with him. Great guy. Very nice man. He said he'll be back to the Boulton Center
Love the the guy, the big bear that he is.

David's in Park City early Jan and I'm thinking of hitting that. Those late night winter drives down from Park City are a real drag though.
