Simply, I love and admire Jim Jarmusch and his films. This very recent interview/article has a lot of interesting thoughts, and a perfect message Joe Strummer gave him.

Thanks for the link. Look forward to seeing the new film.
I got to meet Joe Strummer in August, 2003, a couple of months before the last encounter Jarmusch had with him. He'd just played an excellent in-store set at Tower Records Hollywood store with his band the Mescaleros (groovy), and was signing autographs and taking a moment to meet.and greet the audience (empathy).

Jim Jarmusch has been one of
Jim Jarmusch has been one of my favorite film directors since I first saw a double bill of Mystery Train and Stranger Than Paradise at the Castro Theater. Since then, have seen most of his films and have found all of them amazing.
I am a particular fan of The Limits of Control which many felt was paced too slow. I feel like it moved exactly as it should. There is a scene where the Lone Man burns the map of the secure compound where the American is holed up. There is an immediate physical cut in the film, and then the Lone Man is inside a secure room inside the compound with the American.
American: How the fuck did you get in here?!
Lone Man: I used my imagination.
There are other instances in Jarmusch's films with obvious uses of the cut-up literary technique applied to cinema. I thought, he must be a fan of William S. Burroughs. Only this year did I see the biographical film Burroughs and learned that Jarmusch recorded the sound for that movie while still a student at NYU. So the connection was indeed direct.
Most recent Jarmusch film I have seen was The Dead Don't Die and that movie is so hilariously meta. At least we find out that after the Zombie Apocalypse, Tom Waits will still survive. And Sturgill Simpson went on from that movie to playing with Weir and Company in Golden Gate Park!
Look forward to seeing the new film.
I had three favorite living film directors: Jim Jarmusch, Terry Gilliam and David Lynch. Now my list is down to two. RIP David Lynch.
