Jorma really sets the pace of his good shows, when he (or Hot Tuna) open with True Religion. Things get down right stomping when 99 Year Blues rolls around.
My first show, back in 1976 was hot F" Tuna, late show and have been on the journey with Jorma ever since. Fortunate to have seen every incarnation ofJorma solo and with bands/people since. I go knowing he rotates about the same 30 or so songs 98% of the time and hope to hear a break out of a new song or the dusting off of an old gem, unplayed in public for many years. Sleep Song was one that is now in regular rotation. Still hope to hear Sally Where You Get Your Liquor From or even Surphase Tension on acoustic (minus the phase shifter) or a break out of Hammer Promenade but even after all these years, there is nothing like a Jorma concert!
I miss the Ovation sound. Sure Jorma sounds more "pristine" with the Martin but the Ovation years, phlanger and phase shifter days are still my favorite. Great photo and thanks for posting
Caught Hot Tuna on an unusually cold night here last month (Sunshine Music Fest to be exact, with TTB), and these guys blew me away with professionalism and just still having so much fun playing together- whew, what a treat.
Who knew Jack and Jorma met in high school? I 'spose that put's these 'ol buddies together now around 50 years? And just killin' it. ;-)
