In addition, we will be announcing two more shows for 2017 on Monday, September 11. Those two shows (as yet unannounced) along with the 11 shows above represent all of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s remaining dates for 2017.

We will not be playing a New Year’s Eve Show!

FUCK YEAH

If he continues to just play the "Cap & the Bowl" in NY, I may never see this band. That's OK with me.

That's not a tour.

Tour-ettes syndrome, playing the same place over and over and calling it a tour...

Damn-

first week is HSBG here

then I have to housesit the next ones

guess the fox in Oakland is it

I've got a 3-day weekend for the Oakland show, so I'm buying for that one!

best band to touch this catalog since the Q...this band is worth flying for. was really hoping for NYE at the cap...this was gonna be my year to finally see them at the cap for new years :(

Couch tour for the BB run!!! smiley

Nothing close to home.  They would be very successful touring a little more, why don't they?

Fantastic Fun at the Fox!!!  I'm looking forward to seeing some of you fine folks!

Someone's working on PNW dates for next year, but I wouldn't get too excited just yet...

that would be nice, we need more west coast dates. the easities are so, so lucky to have a band like this playing in their area. west coast has gotten its fair share of love over the years so its only fair...but man id love to see these guys many, many times in a year and really get to watch their musical conversation grow instead of just checking in on them once or twice a year. bummed to be missing jrad red rocks>dicks...that will be a solid 4 nights of music, but im happy to have gotten to see their CO run earlier this year, that darkstar was something else.

here is a killer vid of st stephen>the eleven>brown eyed women from one of their recent lockn sets...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOu3aJ8RDqw

the whole thing is great, but the "ladyfingers" part of st stephen and the transition from the eleven>brown eyed women are particularly nice...as per usual really stretching them out with 3 songs clocking in at almost 45 min.

Thanks for that link, Daylight!

"why don't they?"

They all have other gigs that are more important to them.  People love this band, but I suspect that they have other ambitions than just being known as a great Dead cover band.

If it pays the bills, they will play. Perhaps not to overkill, but to not meet demand for gigs, would be foolish.

Joe,

They are well worth the drive off the island for.

If it wasn't football season I would go up for a weekend. They rock the dead and many others like no one else out there for some time now.

Thanks Tim,

It's in Brooklyn. I'm now thinking about going to the 10/14 show now.

2 ticket per person limit for the Brooklyn Bowl presale, lame

According to JRAC's Facebook posts, the

LA presale has sold out already!

Oakland tix still available w/ presale password: RADWC    ......However, I'm waiting for public sale this Friday because all I could pull on Oakland presale were mezzanine and balcony tix.

I'm not tracking the east coast shows.

I am so going to The Fox. This band is Grate!

I just pulled Floor at the Fox keep trying

Thanks El Nino, will try now.

anyone see or get lodge during the presale? i did not see any, hoping they are not gone...JRAD fox has typically been an easy ticket, but the last time they played there it seemed pretty full, their playing is only getting better and their audience bigger as the years pass. wonder if it will sell out this year.

I've never seen loge pre-sale tickets released for any show at the Fox, only at time of general public on sale and possibly day of show. I may bop down there on Friday to avoid service fees, though box office opens at noon and internet onsale is 10 am.

I just asked Russo's peps if would play Long Island. If he can play Live Oak Florida, I think he can swing by LI.

Why don't you get off long island and explore other parts of metro NY area?

I am seeing & meeting Leo Kottke at the City Winery in NYC 10/9 & will not travel for JRAD.

Who are you? Why don't you travel for JRAD?

I was born in Yonkers 54 years ago. Know the tri-state are like the back iof my hand.

I own a company that's franchised and sole duty is to cover the tri-state area, in what I do.

>>>Couch tour for the BB run!!!

You posted that, right?

How far of a drive is it for you? Less then 2 hours?

Mapquest says 1:55 for me. Port Chester would take less time for me. Much.

Got a couple of floor tix for FOX show for me and Roshambo!

Today's presale code through Another Planet Entertainment (APE) is AGAVE.

Yay!  I'll get a floor ticket and hope to see you there.

I was just asking a question.  You never seem to want to travel to any shows off the island.  Part of the fun of the music is the adventure in getting to it.  And for your information, i live in Philly so it can be 2 1/2 to 3 hours to get to Portchester or even Brooklyn.  I did the 6 night BB JRAD run in march; up and back each night.  BB as a venue is expensive to get to and sucks.  Hence my couch tour.  Peace.

Does that hipster who wears the kangol in JRAD have a stealie on the button?

He should sell those....probably a good market for them.

>>>You never seem to want to travel to any shows off the island

It's true, if I was seeing more shows of the Island, I would be bragging about them.:peace:

>>>>You never seem to want to travel to any shows off the island.

Here is some memorabilia (I have much more) that I have saved from shows I traveled to.

This Saturday, I am traveling out to Eastern Long Island to see the Mavericks in Westhampton -Sorry no couch tour for this show.

Not sure if you are familiar with Long Island. It's the type of place to travel to, not from.

How many people do you know that saw the Grateful Dead in Reno?

When I was younger, I was an intrepid traveler. Back in the day

bluelight, this band is more than worth a couple hours drive. i kinda doubt they will book a show on long island, the cap and BB are kinda their home base venues, i think NJ or CT would be more likely.

you should really go check it out at least once, IMO its very possible that GD music will never be played this well again...phil and bob's projects have not been at this level for a long time. i am fully expecting this band to be my last chance for truly, truly great live dead music.

^i agree.

they are crushing it at red rocks right now.

talk about psychedelic.

I know several.  What do you want, a medal?

Yes, I am.  Whatever floats your boat dude.

Sorry, I don't believe you.

How old are you? Have you ever crossed the nation to see Jerry, the Dead or Phil?

I just received an email back from JRAD's booking agent Paradigm and they are interested in playing Long Island and they asked for a larger theater, so I just sent them the information on the Patchogue Theater. I will wait for them to play on LI since I am the one bringing them here.

I am done with this conversation Keith

>>What do you want, a medal?

No, but I suggest you stay away from my posts, unless you have some thing nixce to say.

Nixce

Dude, I am older than you.  Stop playing deader than thou: it's poor form.  I dub you the new Streetvan of Viva.  I am gonna haunt you.  F'N TOOL.

Gee sorry to make to curse and attack me!

Is it safe fo me to drive out tyo a JRAD show, or you will attack me there too?!?

In for the Fox, will be psyched to see some of you dudes and dudettes on the dance floor.

Sweet!

>>I am gonna haunt you.  F'N TOOL.

Make sure you own the PC  you are threatening people with from. Just to play it safe.

i jerked off in the front row looking up bobbys shorts in the 80's way more than you kids ever did, puh-lease

I'm sure it's true. Just surprised.

well back on topic these are tough tickets. did not get my usual lodge seats, am bummed. half of the lodge is on stubhub tho

I just went to purchase a single ticket to 10/14 and it's sold out.  I blew it.

Tough tickets, no shit!

I casually waltzed up to the box office counter and found out that all floor seats have sold out!!!  Wah!!!

If anyone has an extra floor ticket, I would absolutely love to buy it from you and throw in a drink or two on the side.

Still hoping to see some of you at the show.

I struck out on Fox loge seats also.  It will be a floor night for me.

Finally made it down to box office, only back of balcony left, I'll wait to day of show release. Guy said loge was already sold out when they opened at noon. He also thought that loge sold out on Fox Presale Thursday, I don't think loge were available on the JRAD presale.

I think the loge being released on the Fox presale had somerthing to do with all tickets being same price. Many shows have a loge premium price bump.

that sucks bluelight. i have always had an easy time getting lodge for their fox shows and despite being online right when tickets went on sale did not get them...of course there are tons on stubhub.

the days of easy tickets for JRAD are over i think. shit, they sold out 1st bank and red rocks this year. the word is out.

Are any of you jrad fans going to LA? It's closer than New York.

Boston sells out in 10 minutes and then there's 500 tickets on Stubhub.  Not cool.

I'm going to the LA shows. No travel problems smiley

I think the LA shows are sold out now.  The Teragram is pretty small.

That place looks nice. 600 capacity

I learned from this. If I have any interest in a show, grab at least one seat.

>>Are any of you jrad fans going to LA? It's closer than New York.

Those shows sold out too.

Ridiculous.  This band rarely comes to LA and when they do, they play this little dump?  Why not play something a little larger to spread the love.  Sold out in one day, a freaking cover band!  Joke. 100 bucks on stub hub no thanks

T-Ham's voice blows. In a small club he might not try to hard to sound good and just play guitar.

Get over it.  The guy cooks.

I agree the Teragram is too small. They could have sold out the Wiltern.

slack, i was going to go down to LA with a couple friends. but tickets sold out, i did not know it was so small, and had always gotten easy JRAD tickets in the past, so i kinda slept on it. i will be keeping my eye on stubhub and CL, and will keep those dates open and if i can get tickets for close to face and a reasonable hotel or air bnb, i am going to LA for sure. and who gives a shit about any of their voices? if you are worried about the vocals you are missing the point. plus his voice is a million times better than any of the jokers in the family band, except maybe koford.

People getting bent over a cover band is just silly.

Hooper,

Last time I saw these guys it was a ton o' fun.

Met people from both coasts (and in-between) and had a great, cathartic party with like-minded souls (some of whom I have developed strong ties and a deep sense of comradery with).  If that doesn't float your boat, that's fine.

PS: Bear in mind that last year's Fox gig happened shortly after the results of the 2016 presidential election was revealed.  And this old guy named Bobby Weir sat in for a mini acoustic set of timely tunes.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that I can hang in the GA floor area to relive (or make new experiences) the connection I had with those around me.

Unabashedly sappily yours,

John

Johnny, it's all good. I'm sure they are a good time. I have no doubt.

I'm happy you were able to find your piece of mind at their show. And hope you and all who want to go and got shut out eventually get in and have a blast!

It just seems silly complaining about being shut out of a cover band is all. I feel this way about all GD cover bands so please don't take exception in regard to my comments about JRAD.

>>>Is it safe for me to drive out to a JRAD show or will you attack me there too?!?<<<

Good morning snowflake.  Since your lame ass never leaves Long Island, you don't have to worry.

>>>Good morning snowflake.  Since your lame ass never leaves Long Island, you don't have to worry.

Listen Keith, I do not know if I made myself clear it what I wrote. But for your own good stay way from me.

You can threaten me here, but not in person. Please leave me alone.

For lack of a better thread... both full sets of JRAD from Lockn watchable here: https://www.relix.com/blogs/detail/watch_joe_russos_almost_deads_full_lo...

Don't miss the shot of Bob at 41:23 or so on the 8/26 stream looking like his head's about to explode because of how fast the Jack Straw is

Chicago tonite!

Hamilton played an acoustic duo@ shoefest last nite. it was supposed to be american babies but that did not work out

This will be one of those threads we can't bump In a few weeks or risk getting banned.

I smell some offboard drama.

Posting ticket stubs in earnest when not in the pursuit of Trolling Baby Boomers is highly suspect.

Seems like a nice band, with cools fans and worthy of better thread talk.  From me at least.

>>>>Posting ticket stubs in earnest when not in the pursuit of Trolling Baby Boomers is highly suspect

Lol

Agreed.

He's has enough baby boomer traits to get ticket stubbed.

My only mistake, was putting them all in a pile and taking one picture.

Things change for him & will have learned from this thread.

image_735.jpg

Maybe I'm just being naive but I can't believe anyone that shows up to a jrad show willing to pay face would b shut out.

I hope so, E.

Nice stub St. Slacker!

>>>People getting bent over a cover band is just silly.

doesnt matter if they are a cover band when they are better than most anything phil and bob have put out in over a decade. its all just been cover bands since jerry died, save for the very occasional tours of "the dead" and whatnot.

>>>Maybe I'm just being naive but I can't believe anyone that shows up to a jrad show willing to pay face would b shut out.

plenty of folks got shut out of the ogden this year and that holds over 2x as many people as the teragram. i had two extras, and have never gotten more responses to a CL ad i put up to sell tickets in my life. well over 50 replies. tons of people outside looking for tickets. very, very tough ticket.

How odd

it was harder to get a JRAD ogden ticket this year than it was to get into the ogden for furthur in 2013, and furthur did not sell out 1stbank...jrad did. go figure.

i was just told how nice the teragram in la is.

people are mad that they are playing a nice place? small no good?

if you want to see a band bad, you buy tickets when they go on sale. kinda how it works.

but i don't get the band. good playing i suppose but i get no soul out of what i heard. just loud fast gd songs.

Have liked what I've heard on streams,  so far not been to a JRAD show.  Brooklyn is out of my range.  Maybe some day they'll play Asbury Park.  That place makes an easy drive,   mostly 3-lane I-195 with no traffic lights or tolls.  The town itself has many options for pre- and post- show snacks.

I like the Bond St. dive and 'Mogo'  Korean taco place.

turts - i have been considering posting a thread with some links to JRAD highlights. i will include some stuff that is not hard or fast and IMO, has plenty of soul. but i do totally understand the criticisms that JRAD is just all loud/fast GD songs and does not bring the soul required for some songs. i can agree in some respects, usually the more emotionally driven ballads dont hit the same notes that they do with other bands.

but IMO the soul is there in the improv, in the incredible exchange of ideas, and how obviously the band is loving what they are doing. sometimes i felt like phil and bob were a bit disingenuous on stage at times, but every time i see JRAD they seem truly and honestly really happy to be onstage and really grateful that everyone showed up and bought tickets. joe was beaming LOL

and its really blowing my mind the amount of zoners who are within driving distance of BB and the cap and have never gone out to see a JRAD show. i am so jealous.

Tickets no for bb we're gone right away.

I thought their brokedown with Jim James from lockn' was pretty soulful.

It was one of the few songs I've seen from them that managed to hold my interest start to finish.

I'm sure I'd really enjoy them live, they just don't give me a lot of initiative.

I'm quaking in my boots snowflake angry  You best stick to your myopic little world of eastern long island you pretentious ass.

try not to suck any dick on the way to the parking lot!

This Keith dude sure sounds jealous of someone.

JRAD was meh the only time I caught them at 2015 HSMF but I'd like to see them at their own show instead of a festival. They did not bring it to that night.

>>>JRAD was meh the only time I caught them at 2015 HSMF but I'd like to see them at their own show instead of a festival. They did not bring it to that night.

had a similar experience at hardly strictly bluegrass. it was a solid set, nothing to complain about, great playing, terrapin was good, but it did not melt my face in the same way that the other stuff of theirs i have seen did.

a couple days later they played a set at terrapin minus dave and plus phil that was absolutely phenomenal. one of, if not the best set of music i saw at terrapin during my limited tenure as a patron there. wonder why they did not play together at lockn, and he has never dropped in on them at the fox...would really love to see these guys with phil again

Yeah, I'd b down to hear them with phil

"would really love to see these guys with phil again"

New Years at the Cap was a blast.

>>Posting ticket stubs in earnest when not in the pursuit of Trolling Baby Boomers is highly suspect

Says the passive aggressive poster who thinks he knows better but really doesn't.

It's not about knowing better. Id be naive to think I know better.

It's a signal to noise thing.

Morning Sixxy!

I was hoping you'd get around to that one.

I went through all of the hard work of baiting that with the BB term.  It would have been a shame if you didn't take a shot at it.

Yeah. No one ever bites at my bait. lol

as far as dead being played right now, i'd give the nod for best to jrad. i like them. i don't care for hamilton all that much, i much prefer metzger's sound and approach.

that said, when i saw them w/ phil at the cap a few years ago i thought it was great. some really nice jamming, they even did dark star well, it actually went somewhere. be cool to see phil do a run w/ them while dreiwitz is on ween tour.

i also saw them w/ the original lineup in philadelphia for nye a couple years ago, bad show.very boring.

what i heard at red rocks the other night was good imo. streamed first set and thought it was very well done. i think it's the best we got nowadays, if you gotta see dead w/ the "major" players, not sure who's doing it better and in a more creative way. phil done taught russo well.

JRAD is a fun night of music. Does it have to be more than that? It's 2017. Tick...tick...tick...

Oh - and you missed my point above, HL73 - you really should know better than to be passive aggressive on a dbmb, and I actually thought you did know better. And, naivety has little to do with that.

Does anyone want to say they love the tease concept?

I love that they played Cinnamon and Lesbians > St Stephen recently.

What year is this?

JRAD-ieer-Than-Thou - Who woulda ever thunk it'd come down to this?  Well given the Race to the Bottom between TFB & DeadCo, guess it's no surprise.  As usual, Brooklyn & Boston are just too far for me to travel for this band (altho I did enjoy their set @ Peach - mostly old school & jamming), I still have, um, Issues w/the vocals (Bobby guy is better than Jerry guy, who is downright Grahame/Ross Cringeworthy).  If they did as DSO is doing and came to New Haven, Northampton, & Worcester, I'd see them 3 times.

^^^^other than a good P&F lineup they are the only cover band worth traveling for, IMO

Guess so, but I wouldn't travel for ANY GD cover band.  DSO happens to be playing 3 shows w/in an hour of me in Nov, I'll see @ least 1, maybe 2 or all 3, we'll see . .  .

Now if Joe R was to reassemble that Hooterall Project that I saw @ the Cap in April, I would most DEFINITELY travel to see that.  As I've said before, if I was some obscenely rich guy, I'd fund that band to tour & follow the tour, not ever feeling any obligation to be a part of the band or sing Stella Blue really badly . . . but I would strongly suggest to them that they draw strongly from the early '70's Miles Davis catalog . . . .

Hey Bob.  Come to Philly for the post thanksgiving weekend bash 11/24 & 11/25.  Only drawback is the Fillmore is all GA standing.  Presale started today......

Yeah that's the other reason I'm not going to any of these shoes - all these sold out sardine can standing room only venues - too old & in the way for that shite, esp for something I'm only marginally interested in, & have to travel to on top of all that.  Do they still have bowling during JRAD shows @ the Brooklyn Bowl?  Heard they stop bowling only for Phil . . . .

DSO is playing @ nice theatres that will not sell out & will have plenty of stretch-out space up in the balcony w/nice views & sound . . .

No bowling anymore for JRAD.....that's the VIP section......lol!

BTW, if any zoner comes across an extra floor for the Fox, please let me know.  I tried presale and on sale and couldn't pull a single floor ticket!  Gracias...

"all these sold out sardine can standing room only venues"

My complaint as well, but I'm in for Friday in Philly.  This band is too good to pass up.
