JRAD Weekend Connecticut

Forums:

Hard to believe, but I'm going to a concert Friday.
Any other Zoners have Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Deadshow in their plans?

The musical takes place in an old tennis court transformed into a freak show vortex.

Go to the show.  Tickets are available!

Pregame with a white clam pie at Pepe's.

Epic call Knot ! That pie is to die for! No where else in the country baby!

know a pair of zonahs who will be there

the hubs has a hardon for jrad

they are def fun (((octorusso)))

have fun all those who go !

PS:

Save some room for dessert at Claire's Corner Copia

A really nice veggie luncheonette that has Dank Desserts.
one suggestion, the Lithuanian coffee cake and ask for extra buttercream yum

We're chowing, chowdering, down at Stowes Seafood before the shows. 8 mins from the venue, great views of LI sound.

Frank Pepe's in New Haven rules... flew in to Boston and stopped there on the way to the CAP.

Mamouns Falafel is the place to go in New Haven.  Pizza?  Bar, Sallys, Modern. If you have time look for a Colony Grill location.  Hot oil pie. It's not pizza in an traditional sense...it's a completely different animal.     Pepes is just a food channel feature at this point.

Good for Jrad..I can't see paying that coin for a GD cover band but all the power to the bands and the fans.

Well this thread bums me out!!!

we were just there last weekend to see Goose

never made it into town but Willy T picked us up a pizza ( not sure from where???)

and tasty beers he always has:)

met us at the venue for pregame...

wish I had seen this thread a week ago to try some of the restaurants, pizzas and check out the view!

It was kinda hellish drive from Brooklyn and back

the place shuts down at 10

they  cut goose off lol

Well, next one!

have fun out there!

Went to the Mule show that opened.  No - a drive from Brooklyn to BPort is not pleasant,,,,there are few local roads that sometimes help.  Hadn't seen that thread or I would have posted.  Goose is climbing the ladder.  I just checked out their cover of It's All Over Now Baby Blue. One of my favorite Dylan songs and they did it justice.

New haven --- not Bridgeport --- my brain is scrambled eggs.

Accuracy aside, From Brooklyn to Bridgeport has more poetry to it.

It's a bit of unintentional alliteration

That, and there's a symmetry of syllables to it.

It's also interesting how much movement can be contained in two prepositional phrases.

I hit the first JRAD run (excellent) and Goose last weekend (interesting, will check them again). It's great venue with super sight-lines and bit of a free-for-all atmosphere.

And yes, a hard cut @ 10PM but I love getting out of a show early enough to do something afterwards.

Modern > Pepe's in a considerable way but BAR is the best place for pre and post show - better than good pizza, great drinks and fun mixed crowd.

Sorta like from Milan to Minsk.

I've had so many great nights at BAR.  There are 3 stories to that place --- gotta be 20K sqft.  They used to run different music on all the stages, plus the loft that had tables for 20. Tip the servers nicely -- it was a long walk up there.

We will be there on Sat & Sun. Just like last time :)
The venue is pretty great, as venues go these days.

And JRAD is honestly the most fun live thing going, at least for me these days!

As much musical love as we've been given by Phil these past 25 post-Jerry years, I'm just not even that compelled to see him on this newly announced Cap run.
As our fearless leader once said, you gotta "follow your wierd".
Well JRAD is my wierd right now.

I encourage folks to watch this weekend, I think they give ya like 25min free at the start of each set.
And then someone usually ups the streamed video of the whole show to youtube or somewhere, seems like it's sometimes up for a day or so before it gets pulled.

Wish I had seen these recommendations last week!

is JRAD still limited capacity?

I believe all the JRAD shows at Westville Music Bowl are limited capacity until the Sept 4th show, (dubbed the "Pack the Bowl" show by the venue)

That said, they have released more tix each time, for these "sold-out" runs, so it looks like they are incrementally working up the numbers.

Goose was my first real show back, great to hang with you Ro!!

The good times are rolling again and I am back tonight for JRAD!

The limited capacity and low hassles is a dream come true and makes this venue super fun!

BAR is the place to pregame and after parting can be had at Stella Blues Bar:)

See you Zoner’s tonight,  and I am also hitting many Phil

Cap run shows too!

"Grateful times are ahead! Joe Russo’s Almost Dead return to New Haven, CT to resume their “Go To Haven” residency at Westville Music Bowl on July 30 – 31."

(dubbed the "Pack the Bowl" show by the venue)

Noice!
