KVHHW...

fun times

I mean, they’re at near maximum shred already two minutes in.

it was cold that evening and a lot of "Will Ray show?" tension (hence Haggerty).

A two-day event when High Sierra Music Festival was getting very popular and trying some events closer to the Bay area.

I remember I got there very early and parked my truck and set up camp in a primo shady spot -- but after I was done, then they wanted me to move all my stuff for some silly reason. Luckily, I had an official-looking bright yellow mimeographed sign in my glove compartment that said Water Inspector or some such nonsense and sticking that on my dash got them to leave me alone. Funny the things you remember.

High Sierra Music Festival featuring The Recipe, David Grisman Quintet, Wise Monkey Orchestra, Calobo, Zigaboo Modeliste, Donna the Buffalo, Foxtrot Zulu, Willy Porter, The Big Wu, KVHW with Steve Kimock, Vinyl, Freshly Baked, The Radiators, and others @ Stafford Lake Park,

Poster was/is nice. It's been on my wall for so long, I forgot about it.

Radiators, Grisman, KVHW., Zigaboo,.....(early) Yonder Mountain was there, too, I think for the 10/2  late night show.

This show is phenomenal.

What in the world happened to this incredible band?

I had just started getting into Kimock shortly before they quit playing. I purchased Zero's Nothing Lasts Forever one afternoon in 2000/2001 before a Grisman Quintet/Fleck show. Had barely heard of Zero, just went in looking for any Kimock non-GD-related I could find.

And I hit the jackpot. Within 3 mins of Cole's Law, the first track, I knew I had found something I'd been looking for for a very long time.

I'm sure this topic has been covered here before, but I still don't know much about this particular band.

1. Ray just wasn't a reliable enough band member to keep it moving forward

2. steve had many other irons in the fire anyways

3. Most folks probably thought KVHW was some kind of radio promotion
