It numbs the tongue and is fairly quick. While it was interesting, I realized I didn't want it, (unless I have a toothache, which is never)....and what it can do to the liver is not to be taken lightly.....
I drank about 15 coconut shells worth one night in Fiji in the late 90’s. Was a similar scene as the picture at the start of the thread, but was indoors in a kind of community hall. The ladies were dancing in a conga line while the men sat around and drank Kava. Some of the old Kava users had lizard like skin (I think it was the effect of very long term lava drinking). Made me a little mellow, gave me a good memory, but that was about it.
