A friend and one of the best keyboard players I ever played with or heard, Kevin Burton, passed away yesterday.
Thought it might ne nice to share some of his music with you all.

There's more of his work out there with Harvey Mandel, Canned Heat, Joe Louis Walker and his early stuff with George Clinton and a bunch of Rap artists, too.

I first played with him at a picnic with drummer, Big John Evans and Glenn Hair. Turned out we both played with jazz great, Mick Valentino. I played with Kevin again with Mind X, at some blues jams in town, a Red Cross benefit for the victims of hurricane Katrina with Frankie Lee, and some other places I can't recall right now.. Always wanted to get him out to some of my shows, but he was in such demand and working and touring all the time. A very cool guy and sweet humble soul. Man, he was good.

Not sure Bart. He was on and off with Mindx for the past few years due to his health issues.
He was in rehab for some cancer surgery and chemo when he contracted pneumonia, which is apparently what he succumbed to.

Supposed to be an event to raise dough for his family later this month around the 21st. I'll post here when I learn the details.
