Kimock & Friends Stream 5.3&4

1st link is nice and clean.

Who are these friends, if anyone knows?

Steve Kimock & Friends ft. Jeff Chimenti, Robin Sylvester, Jay Lane, and guests at HopMonk Tavern, Sebastopol CA

Dear Steve Kimock,

Please find a more suitable drummer if you are going to play Zero tunes. Jay Lane's rock and roll trashcan bashing style does no justice to your most notable music and it certainly doesn't seem like he learned the repertoire.

Nice to hear the horn....who is playing?

Dave Ellis

Nice. thanks! Between Zero and KVHW some incredible music went down in that place / town. Good times indeed.

Indeed.  I was at the show last night, at least the for the first set, which enjoyed - jazzy and then dead-y when Lebo joined halfway through.  But right before 2nd set began, someone dropped an entire beer down my back and onto my husband's pants.  Soaking wet, hair dripping, went home. Oh well!

^Damn, Froggy.  Sorry to hear that.  (Birthday Beer Baptism?)

I was happy to be dry and listening to the stream a bit.  Thanks for sharing the links.

Interesting comment re Jay Lane. He's one of my favorite drummers especially in the jazz/jam role. He and Dave Ellis go way back to Charlie Hunter Trio days.

CRAPMOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU'LL NEED TO GET SOME EARS SO YOU CAN HEAR HOW CRAPPY HIS PLAYING IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Easy does it...

IGNORE 2 Dank

I listened for awhile last night, but the vocals seemed really off - a lot - the music was great otherwise.

Looks like Weir has been added to the Sunday show.

Ratdog!!!

(No spot taken, but whoop it up to those who care)

Local Bay area drummers that are available, affordable, know Dead music and are fun to party with (and who Bob Weir might be comfortable with, if he shows up).... Jane Lane for 20 Alex

but he's very different than Greg Anton or Alan Kertz or even John Morgan Kimock...

I would hope that if Kimock digs deep into his Zero / KVHW "instrumental" catalog (which he seldom does with his latest band or with his Dead friends), he would find a more "nuanced" player who doesn't crashbang so much. Someone who doesn't just keep the beat but adds some texture. Even Rodney Holmes, who could go speed metal in SKB, always displayed a certain finesse. There's some good stuff from back then that could be resurrected.

While it seems the days of Kimock in his prime are past (he peaked around 2005 imo), he can still bring it and create some great weaving lines.

Looking forwards to the electric Tuna tour in Aug/Sept.

Froggy, very sorry you and the HippoMon got dumped on - sounds icky and awful.

O-Tay!

Thanks for the JRAD link Mr. Breeze.

Streamer is a bit heavy on the Bass,  but another fine JRAD shoe.

I bailed.  It started to sound like the mic was pointed at the floor.

I'm on the Kimock stream now.
