I saw the Thursday night Mountain Winery and the Saturday night Oakland shows. Both were stunning in different ways, but damn, glad we did both. I took my grown son to Oakland and he was blown away, didn't know that such music existed. You'll love the show, just don't pull out a camera.
Honest opinion: I was bored by the Friday show at the Fox.
Sure - onstage were 8 virtuosos - but it was virtuosity over substance.
The material was yawn inducing and I found the presence of 3 full drum kits completely redundant and unnecessary.
I for one certainly have seen better drummers and one of the three would have been suitable and adequate.
There were no melodies to take home (other than the encore trio of Court of the Crimson King, Heroes and 21st Century Schizoid Man.)
The absence of Belew (while not a deal breaker) and the placement of the key melody players in the back instead of the foreground made the show decidedly less entertaining.
Seeing Levin and Fripp was cool - but the whole thing was soul-less, calculated and devoid of groove.
This is just my opinion - everyone is entitled to their own....
I saw the San Diego show and loved it. I was impressed with the three drummers, who coordinated their parts well to take advantage of their prominence across the stage. I wasn't familiar with much, if any, of the first set material, but most of the second set and lengthy encore was a greatest hits collection. They played much longer than I recall them playing when I saw them about eight years ago.
I saw the previous tour in Seattle, loved it... never thought I'd get to see the old material performed live, wish I could have seen the new (old) songs they're doing this tour!

can't even begin to
can't even begin to articulate how great last week's show in Oaktown was! Brought the wife (who is a KC newb) and she was equally blown away.
great setlist, nice full 2 set show, and a meaty 3 song encore... we left feeling saturated and satisfied.
and even though it was a sausage fest, I ended up sitting between 2 attractive wimin who were both totally into it, so I had that going for me.
Enjoy!

Furious E went the 2nd night... hopefully he'll stop by and give a review that does the show justice.

Some might say that's Fripp's oeuvre.
