Wahoo!!! KC tour dates for 2019 in the US are starting to trickle out...  I'm hoping to catch at least 2 or 3 show on this tour. If you haven't had the chance to see them, do it next year!! This present lineup is kicking ass! So far only 3 dates listed but more to come.

9/3/2019 Greek Theatre, LA, CA

9/10/2019 Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, Chicago IL

9/21/2019 Radio City Music Hall, NYC NY

good looking out! TY

Woo Hoo!

Saw them a few years ago at was once Best Buy Theater on West 44th, not sure what it's called now, they change the name as often as I change socks. Great show, would love to see them at RCMH but too far away to know if I'll be in town that Saturday

RCMH tix on sale Friday 12/14!   Various pre-sales on Thursday

Hope they add more shows to North America,,

FROM THE KC WEBSITE:

An update for all those wanting the full King Crimson touring schedule for next year…

The exact timing of announcements for shows has to be agreed with the different promoters in different territories. We are also playing festivals, which have their own schedule. Some show-dates and contracts are still being finalized. This means that we cannot announce a full list. We do however insist that the first announcement comes from the DGMLive website, and that we have at least a week in advance to sell Celebration packages where they exist (it is not normally possible at festivals).

However…some useful facts, which may help those seeking to read between the lines to draw better conclusions:

1. we are requesting promoters to announce multiple shows at any given venue at the same time (as with the Royal Albert Hall). There are therefore no more public shows booked at any of the venues that have been announced in the UK, Germany, Switzerland and USA. Now that the show in Berlin has been added (which forms part of a festival and so was delayed) the public gig list for UK, Germany and Switzerland is complete.

2. In addition, (as revealed by Robert Fripp on his Facebook page), we expect to be playing France, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and Chile, as well as (hopefully) Holland and Poland.

As far as I know (with the possible exception of a festival), there are no further announcements this year…

BUT – it could all change. That’s why it’s not announced yet!!!

http://www.dgmlive.com/

So, In a nutshell, more US dates are pending but the they will not be adding additional shows at the locations already announced

The pre-sale code for the King Crimson NYC show is CRIMSON19. These will be going on sale on Thursday morning.

General tickets will go on sale on Friday. Ticket links will be added to the DGMLive website.

KCMX19

Thanks, I saw that for the Mexico City presale, but it wasn't clear to me it applied to other cities...

I guess I was fooled by that post on dgmlive.com

Still looking out

Here's what APE has for their presale:

Presale begins Thursday, January 24th at 10am!
(password = beautys)

The general on sale begins Friday, January 25th at 10am.

Still trying to confirm the Ticketmaster "Artist Presale" code for presale starting Wednesday 10am.

So much for doing 2 or 3 shows... looks like I will only be able to do the Cleveland show. Might drive up early and hit the R&R HOF, its been like 20 years since I've been there so it would be a good opportunity to check it out again. Still stoked to be catching this band again!!! This "Celebration Tour" in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the release of "In the Court of the Crimson King" promises to be a good one!

Thanks Noodler!!!

Thnx. noodler

wtf no Cap show

I had no luck with today's "Artist Presale" for the Fox shows.  Ticketmaster said it started at 10am and counted down, then said "We're experiencing delays, check back", after which all references were gone.

I scored a pair for the Cleveland show using the KCMX19 code. 6th row left aisle. Woohoo!

Just got Philly presale. Psyched.

Yes!! I'm in for Cleveland... 9th row center. Jackpot!

The Court of the Crimson King

Most of it was VERY heavy!  Some subtlety, Jakko sounded great on the Lake/Sinfield vocals.  I'm glad they have Mel Collins, who adds a dimension they didn't have in prior lineups like the double-trio.  I appreciated being able to see who played what during the complex passages.  Good distribution of material from Court of the Crimson King, Lark's Tongues, Red, and Discipline.  Highlight for me was the LTIA-IV which I didn't know as well but was huge.  Balcony, 6th row dead center, sound was very good, only occasionally did I wish for Tony to be turned up a bit.  Further back in the Fox gets very muddy, but where I was was very clear and LOUD!  Fripp seemed in good spirits, all grins at the end, I wonder if he'll keep touring.  If you get a chance to see this tour, do it!

Thanks for the review and setlist Dave! I'm getting psyched for the Cleveland show in a few weeks. I'm really hoping to catch a few songs that i didnt get to see on the previous tours like Cat Food, Moonchild, Talking Drum and Fracture, but you know what Fripp would say about going to a show with expectations. So I will be happy with what I have to be happy with, no matter what they play.

Was hoping for Cat Food myself, was glad I got Easy Money and Indiscipline, which I'd missed last time.

RONGEO, I'll be the guy with the back brace on 6 rows back to the left of center. We saw them there in 2017. Great show, horrible venue.

After following the European leg of the tour via Tony Levin's web page, it's a shame they could not play a better venue in the Cleveland area. I understand there are no theaters with histories like those in Europe, but a Rocksino is a ridiculous place for a King Crimson show.

Oh well, it will be my ninth KC show and I've got to GTTS!

Hey Deadly, I’ll try to stop and say hello! I wondered why they picked that venue out of all the places available. There are plenty of cool theaters in the area. I saw Ian Anderson at the Akron Civic Theater a few years back, that is a great setting for a show.

According to my (not very empathetic) friend it was "way better than last night!"  Good thing I've mostly outgrown my Fear Of Missing Out.

>>>Most of it was VERY heavy!  Some subtlety...

Just curious what you mean if you care to elaborate.  The material..the sound, heavy as in dark psychedelia? I've never seen them and am only really familiar with the first album.

There’s alotta underlying sinister tension within the music of the Krim, shit is creepy.

Btw, anybody see that ‘Mandy’ movie with nick cage?

Anyhow, If you’re only familiar with the first album, should probably at least check out ‘Red’.

Didn’t feel like making the trek down to the Fox this year but that second night looks great!

think I’m gonna opt to see Adrian in sac this year instead, dude deserves to b shown some love after continuing to be left out of Fripp’s current super beast incarnation of the projeckt.

^Thanks for the rec!

They were segments that were  Zappaesque

But it didn’t really transition and evolve like Frank would have  So not as dynamic or entertaining for me personally

They were times I thought they were a bit indulgent and playing for themselves even though they enjoy the audience and the adulation

I like the horns the best

It was bizarre and they played a fantastic song I was counting the number of people that stood up on the main floor it was  usually four or five once it was 11

It felt very much like being at the symphony and dancing is most important for me when I listen

and then at the end of Friday they got a standing oh

I wouldn’t travel to London to see them LOL

>>>There’s alotta underlying sinister tension within the music of the Krim, shit is creepy.

Good description, I see what you mean. Pretty cool stuff.

"Red", as noted above, is a good example of studio takes of some heavy and sinister tracks like the title track and Starless.  Note that King Crimson was always an ambitious live band.  The lineup and tours of '73 and '74 in particular were known for ensemble improvisation, which besides the GD, was rare in a rock context, and one reason I like both bands.

Here's a more modern live example of "heavy" with a different lineup than the last 2 tours, including only one drummer instead of 3, but you'll get the idea:
LTIA-IV

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVvEz7UQBmk

I really enjoyed the version of this at the Fox on Thursday.

The other half of the story is that they can go from dark discordant heavy stuff to a brilliant painfully beautiful song with ease. With songs like I Talk To The Wind, Cadence and Cascade, Peace, Moonchild, Islands, and even in the Belew era like Matte Kudasai. Just when you think you're about to lose your mind they pull you back to earth with a shimmering melodic tune that makes you realize its all gonna be alright. i used to have "A Young Person's Guide to King Crimson" on cassette way back when, and the songs go back and forth from heavy to mellow about 10 times on that album. Thats what really hooked me into this band!

Well put, DEDHED.

The dynamic range traversed during the LTIA album, the one that hooked me on the band in the first place, is a wild ride.

I have "Young Person's Guide" on LP stashed away.  Was hoping to catch "Cat Food" live, my main regret about missing the 2nd Oakland show.

The Met was an awesome show.  True pros.  Crazy drumming delight. Levin a mad man (still). Fripp did a little frippin. Horn man stellar.  It was a meat in the seat crowd for sure. No chatter, just listeners. That is until one guy broke ice in second set by screaming "UH OH!". It was funny. Me and others had to head bang in our seat. Loved the band

Last night in Cleveland (actually Northfield) was a real treat! Still trying to process all the drum beats and notes played.

Sorry I missed you RONGEO.

Hey Deadly! Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet! All in all, it was a great night of music. We drove up to Cleveland early and went to the Rock & Roll HOF, and ran into Pat Mastelotto so we spoke with him for a bit which was really cool. Apparently everyone in the band was there except for Robert Fripp and Tony Levin, but we didn't see anybody else. As for the show, what can I say except it was an amazing night. I'm impressed every time I see them on how the songs continue to evolve and the arrangements get better and better every time! Was that almost completely new lyrics to Easy Money that I heard? The new words most certainly seem to refer to the "Uncertain Times" we live in today, corrupt politicians and big business. Another note, is that this band has the fastest intermission in the industry, I barely made it out to the lobby and they were dimming the lights for the second set, luckily there was not a big line for the restroom and I managed to get back to my seat in time. We met alot of nice people and had a great time. Too bad I couldn't make it to multiple shows, but there is talk on the DGM website that plans are already being made for 2020 so hopefully they will return to the States next year!
