King Solomons Marbles

Forums:

What a great song. Blues for Allah was in strong rotation for me when I was a kid. Help>Slip>Franklins was some fun stuff.

Is it true GD only played that song a few times live? I do not recall ever hearing it till the after the fact bands playing it.

Further played it in Santa Barbara one night and i was humming it for a week straight.

I'm glad you mentioned that Santa Barbara show. It seemed like they played around the theme and didn't fully go into the riff until the close of the song. I thought it was very interesting and creative.

Also played 8/13/75

Stronger Than Dirt > Milkin' The Turkey

Very cool tune

After the chanting, there is a Dragon breathing heavily.

Where did they find the Dragon?

The Quintet used to play this very well.

Very.

I have a tape of the 9/28/75 show.

It's been awhile, gonna give it a spin today.

>>> The Quintet used to play this very well.

Hell yeah they did.

Furthur's version was no slouch either

Quint did it the best- one of the Warfield's from Sept 2003 I think- and 12-30-01 at the Kaiser- great stuff.

The Dead played one in 2009 in DC at the MCI Center that was pretty good.

DSO also plays it very well.

yes, they do china

I saw the 1st one back on 7/3/01 at Cuthbert, Eugene.

I also did the Eugene show.

The show at Snowqualmie show on the 4th was a trip.

Had to park down below and take a bus up to the site.

Craziness getting out of there, then we were off to Red Rocks...

"... Blues for Allah was in strong rotation for me when I was a kid..."

Got the LP when about 13 but 'didn't quite get it'.  Had Workingman's Dead and American Beauty,  Live Dead & SkullFuck.  Blues For Allah was a bit too rich for my immature musical brain.

Eventually I grew into it.  Same thing with 'Axis: Bold As Love'.  Couldn't comprehend it until I was a bit older and had Experienced life some more.

Yet at the same time,  I could listen to 'The Wall' back then and enjoy it,  where as now I can barely stand it.

I was also at that Cuthbert show in Eugene,  I remember Jimmy screwing up one small part and rolling his eyes, lol   (also enjoyed when he brought out Warren an acoustic during his solo warmup set, crowd got a giggle out of that)

best Q version (maybe any version) of KSM was in San Diego w/Karl Denson (into or out of Eyes).

tried to find it on archive, but could not.

absolute fire.

This was my first Phil show and the reason I am here on the zone... found the original PZ looking for a copy of this show (TaperRob hooked me up with a BnP).
