♤♤♤♤ I think setlist.fr is missing a few songs though

FTW Chicago.   Seemed like a good way to go out with most everyone invited (who wanted to pay a pretty penny) and the site of my last show with the gd. My college buddy who I had toured with for decades and I bet on the setlist for the last show ($5) and he basically pulled away and sealed the deal on the NFA....until they played two encores and I snatched it from him.

Other favorite moment was when I got to my seat and had to evict some wook from it.  That was a comical experience in itself as he was too spun to argue.  Then my buddy texts and tells me I'm in the wrong seat.  Whoops.

Set One:

China Cat Sunflower >I Know You Rider, Estimated Prophet, Built to Last, Samson and Delilah, Mountains of the Moon Throwing Stones [1]

Set Two:

Truckin' >Cassidy>Althea>Terrapin Station >Drums >Space >Unbroken Chain Days Between >Not Fade Away [1]

Encore

Touch of Grey [1] Attics of My Life

After moving from SF, the shows were non existent.  I think before those FTW shows, the last one was 2008, the night before I caught an early flight out to be on the east coast.

Set 1: Phil Intro (enuf $ raised to build a house!), China Cat Sunflower> Deal, Beat It On Down The Line, Dire Wolf> Gone Wanderin', Cumberland Blues

Set 2: Mountains Of The Moon> Jam> *The Great Unknown> Dark Star> Death Don't Have No Mercy> Dark Star> The Other One> Eyes Of The World> Sugar Magnolia E: Turn On Your Lovelight

*1st time played, Show presented by Unbroken Chain Foundation in association with Rock To Relief, Benefit for Habitat For Humanity,

Quit following me around Roarshock. That Warfield show was my last time seeing/hearing Phil as well, I didn't notice the date. Seems longer than two years ago.

In retrospect, I've felt it was a good farewell show and the Uncle John's Band encore was well played and a worthy final song.

My first time seeing Phil Lesh was 10/21/78, last time was 5/9/24. 46 years and countless shows in between.

Just a little rock 'n roll... and maybe a little bit more, it's all I ever asked.

I definitely got that, and a whole lot more than a little bit more.

Atta' boy Phil.

Jerry was still there, and Phil got a huge smile on his face when Jerry said during tuning, "Listen to that beautiful bass".  34 yrs ago.

December 17, 2023 at the Fillmore with Stu Allen, Grahame Lesh, Stanley Jordan, John Molo, Adam MacDougall.

I like the symmetry:

first: June 15, 1976 - Beacon (capacity 2,894*) included a St Stephen and a Dancin -- began with a Promised Land

47 years of phun

* official but they surely pack more in

I had a good time

As I reflect on the 5/9/24 Warfield set list, I am impressed at how personally poignant it is, It was the last time, but I didn't know it. The songs that night are a fine recapitulation of my deadhead life. I know that the sun will shine in my back door someday.

Truckin > Nobody's Fault but Mine!

Going Down The Road Feeling Bad

The first Grateful Dead album I bought was Wake of the Flood out of the 50 cent bin at the original Rasputin's on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley. That was in 1975 or 1976, The first time I went to the show on June 9, 1977 they opened with Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo. That song means a lot to me.

Promised Land-Brokedown Palace-Jack Straw-Eyes of the World-China Doll-Sugar Magnolia / Sunshine Daydream

"What's unclear about that?" ~ Robert Hunter

Uncle John's Band sent me out into the night and into the rest of my life. Post-Phil.

Thank you Phil!

Lance Newberry, the Grateful Dead have been following both of us around for most of our lives. Always fun swapping yarns with you here on the black screen regarding the olden days. We do have a lot of common show history, and in discussions we have often disagreed on many points, which I have enjoyed as the conversations have been cordial and in a spirit of good humor. All the best to you, pal. Go to the show!

I cried during dear prudence. i went solo, saw no zoners nor anyone i knew. where the F was everyone? after the show i smoked a J and listened to a street performer play take 5 as fat rain drops came down, it was perfect. I knew this was the last time...I thought it was a good show.

My last time was at TXR, must have been in the summer. It might have been the tme Todd (Moses) helped me put some of Greg's ashes in the canal, though it might have been another time. Whenever it was, it was a swell time.

Final Q show at the Cap. If it had to be the last one, that's the way I wanted it. The Q was it for me post Jerry. Lots of really good other stuff but the Q was another level. A perfect ending for me.
