The Late Great Golden State

Forums:

Great little piece of Country Honk, written and originally performed by Mike Stinson, and covered by Dwight Yoakam to good affect.  Have the New Riders or DNB covered this song?

I thought that this was a Warriors put-down. Or perhaps another attempt to divide California into 3 states.  wink

What a pleasant surprise!

I'll try to check this out on the home computer.

Have a great Friday!

Well, the Dubs may smell a little funny, but they're not dead yet.

I used to work with Mike Stinson's old drummer on the Amoeba Hollywood buy counter.  One day I was doing a buy with a nice lady.  It was the day Led Zeppelin's "How The West Was Won" release of their 1972 L.A. shows came out, and it was playing on the store's sound system.  She asked what it was, and when she went off to look for a copy while I finished her buy, the drummer sidled up to me and told me the woman was Miss Pamela Des Barres, who was dating Mike Stinson at the time.  I think the 1972 L.A. Zeppelin shows were where she famously hooked up with Jimmy Page.  Small world.

Would love to see one of the LSD Tour shows this summer.  Lucinda, Steve and Dwight, what's not to like.  I'm sure Dwight will be playing this song.

Have a great weekend, Johnny!

As did I. That's what makes it a quality thread title.

I'm sure Mark is pleased.
