Late Spring/Early Summer Tour Season

Forums:

The concert schedule should be packed, as vaccinations pass 75% in North America and bands that have sat the last year or so get a chance to do what they do.   Presumably, the Canadian and Mexican borders will be open.

There are reports that the Stones are investigating tour routings for dates to play the postponed North American dates.

X has late May and early June days up.

Expecting a flood of concert bookings.

From what I read we're looking at third or fourth quarter especially if 25%-33% is afraid of taking the Vaccines.  If peeps embrace the vaccine we could be looking at June.   ie Summer solstice.

Fall more likely, IMO.

I'm thinking some time in 2022 for me.

Yeah, I'm reading that we're looking at early Summer to get everyone vaccinated, and that's a best case scenario.

Every crew member I know that works with larger performers has been told that they should take whatever work then can until 2022 because those larger acts will not be tourning until then.

That's what I've been reading too. I don't expect there will be any "normal" concerts until October. Aside from the vaccine planning these things takes months meaning planning when you don't know the arc of the timing of getting the public vaccinated.

500 Fans Attend Barcelona Concert in COVID-19 Screening Experiment

According to the Associated Press, Barcelona’s Fight AIDS and Infectious Diseases Foundation recently teamed up with the Primavera Sound Music Festival to see how same-day COVID-19 antigen testing might work in a crowded music venue.

A group of 1,000 volunteers were tested with a 15-minute rapid test, and half were sent home as a control group. The other 500, however, were allowed to enter Barcelona’s Apolo Theater for a five-hour concert, which required masks but no social distancing. Dancing in close quarters and hugs were allowed, as was the removing of masks for one drink at an upstairs bar.

“This is not a party, this is a scientific study,” virologist Dr. Boris Revollo told The AP, adding that the kind of same-day antigen screenings used for this event, would still have to be combined with face masks and anti-virus restrictions.

Additionally, “All 1,000 of the volunteers will also undergo two PCR tests, which have a higher capacity to detect the virus than the same-day antigen test, first on Saturday before the concert, and then again eight days later. Revollo said these PCR tests will allow him and his fellow investigators to determine if any infected people got past the same-day antigen screen and, if so, did they infect others inside the show.”

Spain’s COVID-19 death toll currently sits around 47,600, as compared to America’s estimated 299,000.

lol. I would say the same of every GD concert I ever went to. There was always some serious science going down at those.

Better grooving through chemistry.

^^^ Well, Barcelonans take their nightlife very seriously and perhaps scientifically, I know that for certain.

Some clubs don't open until 3 or 4AM!

I'll bail for most of the year - but I don't attend very many shows any more. -- Had a tik for Phish in Eugene -small arena- indoors. The show will probably go on in July but I won't.- I don't have the urge to sit indoors with a bunch of summertime wookies and their flu bait --mask or no mask. -- Sorry
