There were many days we would not eat while working a 8-14hr day. You could make more money working piece rate with an almost empty stomach. The Maine Wild Blueberry grows about 6-12 inches of the ground like a purple carpet. So bending over "raking" berries with a bellyful is one way to slow down the mission.
So we discovered Little Debbie "Granola" , it was garbage. Mostly sugar. But a handful of that magic mix every now and then throughout the day kept us going and kept the stomach gauge just above E....
We called it "Raker's Crack" it seemed pretty adicttive.
My buddy once said when offered the sinful treat, "John don't do Debbie"
