Liz Warren: Party Girl

Forums:

Twitter has been pretty rough on Liz Warren again; this time for her super awkward Instagram video.

In the video, Liz Warren pauses to "grab a beer" from her fridge, which she proceeds to chug like a millennial sorority girl. It's so lit, fam!

"We have just applied the Sweet Baby Ray's"

Poor Liz Warren. Judged by her peers for not not drinking beer correctly.

Was this supposed to make her relatable?

Comes off a bit clownish to me.

**she's playing you on the 'do you like beer senator?' (at least she should have been)

She didn't chug the beer - she took one slug from it in an entirely normal way. Nothing to see here.

Whether it will help or hurt her in the election I have no idea - probably neither.

Right up there with the Michael Dukakis tank ride and the John Kerry hunting license fiasco.

Apparently my humor is lost on Surfdead.

yeah is she poking at the drunken frat rapist ?

otherwise, i don't get it.

I think she's taking advice from her team about appearing "relateable", Turts.

Pretty sure this is the same team that green lit the DNA test last year. She's doomed.

i like beer

"Do you like beer, senator?"

<Warren cracks a Natty Light; shotguns the motherfucker>

Thom,  I'm not a Warren fan.

This in no way resembles that Dukakis fiasco.

My favorite campaign killer was the Dean scream.

<Warren cracks a Natty Light; shotguns the motherfucker>

I must admit that preparing a can correctly and shotgunning it without spilling a single drop is one thing I miss about drinking.  Every now and then the subject will come up and I'll prep cans for those drinking around me and really wish I would partake.  It's all about holding the can at the correct angle and piercing the air bubble.

The gas relief from the gullet is quite satisfying, Sio.

Guessing Warren doesn't drink Coors.

Maybe not so much the beer chugging (I haven't watched the video), but the DNA fiasco and the Dukakis in the tank image both highlight the same fundamental flaw with the candidates - authenticity.

Every political candidate and politician (except maybe Jimmy Carter) has skeletons in their closet and have been guilty of various lapses in judgment in their younger years.    Most of the time, these will be overlooked (see, e.g. Ted Kennedy, George W. Bush).

However, Warren falsely claiming to be "Native American" in an official university diversity census and her stupidly doubling down on it with the DNA test just a few months ago goes right to her lack of authenticity.  Like Dukakis riding around in the tank or Kerry duck hunting, it looks fake.

Part of the reason why Trump and Bernie did so surprisingly well in 2016 is that they were authentic.   Even to many people who voted for him, Trump came across as a boorish, loud mouthed narcissist.   But that is who he really is.  Likewise, Bernie came off as an angry old socialist, but again, that is exactly who he is.   A successful contender has to be comfortable in their own skin and come across as genuine.   That carries much more weight when it comes down to it than specific policy positions.

While I like Warren's positions and think she would make a great president, her attempts to pretend to be someone she isn't and her clumsy doubling down on that has severely hurt her chances going forward.

Good words there, Ken.

Howard Dean's scream was genuine.

He took it like a champ.

good call also right up there with the Donald Trump pretending to be an American fiasco

Mark, you have not been funny since the D&C bit.

Mark, you've never been funny.

Mark: 1

Mark: 0

In a situation like this I think I’ll side with Mark.

I'm also siding with Mark.
