Lockn

Forums:

Never been. Always wanted to go. How is it compared to other major festivals?

*toke*

More fun and more expensive sir...it's one of the last "major festivals" still in da wheelhouse...

So it sounds like there's a Phil and Friends lineup, and then separately, Phil and the Dishwashers?

This is in the email I got...

This year's lineup will include Phil Lesh & Friends, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, The Avett Brothers, Keller Williams, Brandi Carlile, JJ Grey & Mofro, Eric Krasno Band, Gov’t Mule, moe., John Butler Trio, TAUK, Margo Price, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, The Suffers, Marcus King Band, Los Colognes, Umphrey’s McGee, Greensky BluegrassThe RevivalistsKeller Williams' Grateful Gospel, Widespread PanicThe String Cheese IncidentPhil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band Performing The 40th Anniversary Of Terrapin Station & More.

Depends on the stage...anybody who was at the first Lockn ,.phil and the terrapin family band played the triangle stage...the real question is who is in da Phil and friends set...

Hoping for the Q, Herring and Haynes already there

After attending every year I opted to do Peach instead last year. Lockn seems to raise the price at a ridiculous rate each year. The Peach hotel package was sweet considering the heat and rain. Likely to to do Peach again rather than Lockn. I couched Lockn last year and I think it was free. And Delfest is always on my calendar.

Hoping for the Q, Herring and Haynes already there<<<

Good point.

Epiphany watching Forest Hills on the train this morning

LOCKN' #5!

5 mother fucker as in

5 musicians

a Quintet!!!

It's a really great time and they always really stack the line up. It just cost a lot of money and Very hot.

as an aging head, some of this is getting harder to do.

>>>Pigeons Playing Ping Pong

I hope that band lives up to the name.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong<<<

Out of Baltimore. Saw them at Merryland fest at Merriweather this summer. 2 thumbs up.

Awesome it's gonna rage

So you need two separate tickets for music and camping?

Hammer,

The one year I attended, I think it was 75 bucks for the 'car-camping' pass. Our group purchased two of them to occupy more real estate and have 2 'EZ-Ups'. That was the year Taj Mahal played and Phil's set was cut short by a windstorm; the festival staff evacuated the main stage area. Allman Bros and Tom Petty were among the 'big name' acts.

Prices seem to increase every year, so it's probably more $$ now for camping.

If you attend, be prepared to wait a long time between arrival and actual admission to your spot.

^^^^I'm guessing lots of walking too, which isn't necessarily a big deal. I'm a backpacker, but I'm trying to get some reasonable perspective because a freind of mine wants me to go.

I'd also guess you can't take coolers into the event grounds.

What about a backpack with some water and lunch?

Hammer - Lots of walking but bring a bike and you're good, they also have golf cart taxis that you can take around for a fee. You just can't bring alcohol into the event grounds but water and food were no problem. No coolers inside the event grounds.

Pigeons playing ping pong...good band

I have been to L2 and L3.  We bought tickets this year but we might not be able to go, time will tell.  Great festival but would even consider going without a bike as we have enjoyed being able to get around to the different stages and camp as needed.

IMHO

its too much cash for a lot of work. Fees, camping pass, no coolers on the field, tent a mile away, over priced bs on the field.

the performances are ok, I saw a thing or two I liked, just way too much walking in the heat and not seeing anything while doing so. I do t know, I could go to an island for a week, and think this year I may just do that

enjoy if you go

its very hot as well

A summer festival?

It's hot ?

You have to walk?

WTF was I thinking?

It could possibly rain too.

I caught this episode of Portlandia a couple weeks ago...pretty funny.

I went for the first time this past summer. I thought it was fantastic. Very well organized. Free ice water refills all weekend. Great food (Peace, Love & Tacos...yum). Caught some bands I've never seen before, plus some I've wanted to see for a while. Phil was meh, but JRAD was incredible. As was Lettuce. Late night shows made the weekend for me. I'm planning to go again this year. Avett Brothers are lots of fun. Hopefully Phil puts together a good cast of characters this summer.

Plus, I might get all the way there and realize I forgot something.
