I have tix for and am quite looking forward to the Tower/SLC showing on Jan 26!

any tix left for the Tower?- I ain't driving to PC

That was my thought as well (ie Park City) for numerous reasons. I dunno but tix seemed to be moving quickly and actually showed as 'sold out' on my first attempt last Wednesday when sales opened up to locals. The Tower showing is the only one (of 4 or 5 total?) outside of Park City and not in a hotel ballroom but an actual movie theater. Should be entertaining anyway, although clocking in at a fairly lengthy 235 minutes. We'll see whom may show up and how much 'new' or previously unreleased info/footage/material made the cut.

>>>The four hour examination of the famed rock group is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in the United States and United Kingdom on May 26

Good date.

I'm in for the Tuesday movie up here in PC

actually more excited for the Oteil, JK and friends show Monday nite up here ...same night of the premier.  wrought w "friends" rumors

Enjoy! I would be VERY surprised if Bob, Billy, and Mickey did NOT play in that post-movie set/show....is Jeff C or someone else around for keys spot too?

It looks like the Cabin show tix started at $50, quickly shot to $100, and are/have been long gone.

Also, for those so inclined, JohnK is scheduled to play Gracie's in SLC on the 26th too

>>> is Jeff C or someone else around for keys spot too?

Not sure but good question.

I did see that John K was playing Gracie's on the 26th but it looks like it's an early set and I have tickets for the showing at The Tower that night.

From tonight!

Nice!

Did they play Truckin'?

Word down here in Vegas is/was that Phil is also heading to PC manana

Cool shot, Jen!

Was that taken at The Cabin in PC?

Thanks for sharing the picture, Jen ~ great! Glad you're having good times.

Strawbud, not sure where the show was. I lifted these off of facebook. I thought some might like to see them.

There were a couple more pics. Looks like John Popper showed up and so did Woody Harrelson.

I'm getting psyched for tonight. Hoping for a nice surprise or two.

That is great, Jen! Enjoy the ride - it should be a real gas.

...Anybody interested in Tower pre-game dinner/drinks, etc on Thursday, maybe in vacinity of 9th & 9th or so? ....hoping it's not a total zoo then/there

It will probably be a total zoo but I'm game. I was flying solo to the documentary so it would be nice to meet up.

Cool! Sounds great, Jen.

...is there a way on La Zone to ping individuals or take conversations off line?

Are you going up to the show tonight? If so, maybe we can meet up there and exchange info.

No, I am not going but have fun...and be safe driving up there tonight. I-80 is closed at Evanston which is usually pretty telling. I-15 was OK today coming up from Vegas but appears to be seriously degrading now.

....unless ya got an extra! ;)

If so, I'll drive

Strawbud, I was looking for a ride a few days ago in anticipation that it was going to snow with the offer of my extra. Gunnar took it.

I'll reach out to Judit and see if there is a way to ping you.

Cool.

Strawbud, email sent

Strawbud, Judit is going to email you my email address so keep an eye out for it. Talk soon.

Thanks again, Judit. You're the best!

Thanks, Jen.

Great! Thanks Judit and Jen! Got it, be in touch

Looking forward to this

have fun Jen

good to see the bobby/billy/mickey combo in town - great guys

PC had some wild grateful dead times in it's day

Late night last night. No show from the boys. However, the show was a lot of fun. Good times.

Damn, that seems like a rip-off of an official after-party if there ever was one, especially @ $100....and John K gets pranked yet again. Ha! Probably would have much more entertaining if Woody showed up instead.

WTF were 3 of The Core 4 "practicing" for the other night (Sunday)? Pranksters will be pranking so maybe they will show up at Tower (doubtful....Bobby & Billy are probably already in Mexico). Sweet!

Does anyone know if any/all of The Core 4 were at least on hand (for Q&A, appearances, etc) at last night's premier?

Well, the show was really great and everyone that I know who attended is very happy to have been there. Of course, I had the cheaper tickets. I didn't pay $100. I bought them the day they went on sale and only paid $50. I feel that was fair. I was bummed not to have an appearance by anyone other than John Popper.

Bob, Billy, and Mickey were on hand for Q&A as was Trixie Garcia. I have a friend that was at the premier and he posted a pic.

Here's a video that Gunnar shot that night.

Well, here's a little review of the documentary last night.

It's a four hour documentary. There is an intermission at the two hour mark. It has six acts.

It's very, very well done. The footage was excellent and there was a lot of stuff I had never seen before. It seems as if they pulled stuff out of the vault for this but they also reached out to people that had interviewed the band, documented the band, taken pictures/videos of the band and unearthed quite a bit of stuff. The director was asked last night about it and he gave some examples of how he bought things that had never been seen. Pretty cool.

The first three acts move pretty quickly. It focuses on the band coming together, forming a band and all they went through. Not a lot of new stuff there but lots of fun video and lots of laughs.

Then come the next three acts. It focuses more on the band moving forward without Pigpen, the Wall of Sound, Europe Tour, etc. Then it hits the Deadheads and all the fandom that surrounds them. Touches on Jerry's addiction and escape issues. The last act is heart wrenching in a lot of ways. Trixie really hit me hard.

Beautiful documentary. Just really well done and you can see that it was made with love. It took a few years to get it done and it's done wonderfully.

Thanks for the review Jen.  Looking forward to seeing it.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing this.  Thank for the review Jen.

Jinx!

I read a good review elsewhere, but Jeeeeez I am glad i can catch this four hour extravaganza at home.  But I love it because, you know, it's the Dead man. If a 3 minute song is 7 minutes and a 5 minute song is 18 minutes, then why not have a 4 hour documentary? There's a lot to say.

So there's more interviews we haven't seen?  How is this possible?

Four hours is definitely a long time in the theater. However, I was happy to have seen it on a big screen with good sound and amongst a crowd, a crowd that loves the GD. It was a fun time. I will be happy to watch it again though in my own home. Being able to pause and such is a nice feature.

I can't wait to discuss this all again in May once everyone has a chance to see it.

There is a pretty detailed review in vanity Fair, sounds good.

It happens.   have you seen the Beatles 8 days a week documentary? I thought I'd seen every inch of fab 4 footage, but got surprised

GR8 review and run-down, Jen! (and, again, it was fantastic meeting you and checking out this film with you as well)

This is a very well done and entertaining production, both for Deadheads and non-fans, which was an over-riding goal of the producer(s). I thoroughly enjoyed seeing it on the big screen in a theater full of mostly fans and everyone seemed there seemed to genuinely like it. Definitely be on the lookout for this film. You will love it!

Likewise Strawbud! It was great meeting you! Hope to see you at The State Room tomorrow night!
