Looking for dry herb vaporizer recommendations

Forums:

And figured what better place to ask than a drug band message board?

I didn't know how much shit was out there these days until I started looking. I think even Sony is making them now. Anyway, I'm looking for something portable, and in the $150-200 range or lower. I don't want to get too crazy with this.

I've read about the Pax 2 and Pax 3 and seemingly the only difference is the 3 has extra trinkets and you can control the temperature with an app. I'm not looking to turn on my television with his thing, just want something relatively simple and durable.

Does anyone own a Pax 2? Or have recommendations for something similar and in the same price range?

You can't go wrong with the Pax 2.  The Pax 3 does have more bells & whistles.  Are you planning to vaporize wax or shatter?  If yes, Pax 3.  If no, Pax 2!  I have been more than happy with my Pax 2 since I got it a couple years ago.  It also comes with a 10 year warranty and excellent customer service.

Pax are solid devices.

If vaping is your thing I would consider moving to concentrates.

I had an original PAX and the thing was finicky as hell. I switched to concentrates and the only problem is that it is way to convenient.

I myself have the Mighty by Storz & Bickel from Germany.

Allegedly, they are the only company authorized by the government of Germany to manufacture these specifically for the intake of medicinal marijuana. Like all German engineering, it's out of sight and totally awesome. I've had mine for two years and never had a problem (except for when I dropped it and the light busted, but that's on me).

The Mighty costs like $400 or so here in Chile, not sure about in the US.

I wish I could move to concentrates but uuuuh, I live in Chile. There are no concentrates, certainly not readily available from anyone I know. Hell, even staying in herb can be trying since I had to stop my garden from growing. Oh well...

Appreciate the feedback guys. I was all set on a Pax 2 after all the research I did (I'm only using it for flower) and was going to buy it this weekend when I found out the smokeshops around me only sell the Pax 3. Then I planned to order online, but ended up studying some more and decided to pay a little extra for the Arizer Solo 2. I liked the glass tube (I don't need to be be very discreet) and apparently it doesn't need to be cleaned nearly as much as some other vapes. Sounds like something a moron like me could maintenance, in other words.

I looked at the Mighty too but figured that was way out of my price range. I couldn't believe how much stuff is out there until I began researching. It's like the tech boom for stoners.

java, id love to hear more about your mighty.

IME the "volcano" is the only vaporizer i like...everything else leaves me feeling unsatisfied when compared to smoking a bowl, but a volcano seems to do the trick. the volcano is also made by storz & bickel.

java, have you ever tried a volacano? how does it compare to the mighty as far as flavor, effects, and volume of vapor?

atm the only vaporizer i can really recommend is the volcano - but thats not what most people are looking for. its nearly $500 new and is a pretty huge unit that needs to be plugged into the wall. but its the only vaporizer ive ever had that did not leave me feeling like i still wanted to smoke a bowl afterwards.

Hey Daylight,

I hit a volcano many years ago, like 2006, so I doubt it was the same brand, though who knows. It was definitely called a volcano. Personally, I didn't like the volcano much at the time because I always felt like I didn't get a hit. However, I was totally inexperienced at vaping, which can be a totally different thing than smoking and can take some getting used to.

I love the mighty so much. It's like I get a nice real hit off of it, without the harshness of smoke. The bowl is a good size, it's super durable, temp control is perfect, really, nothing bad to say about it. If you're used to the volcano then it might be a bit puny for you, but if you're looking for a portable I would recommend all the way. Like I said above, I've had mine two years and never once had a problem except for when I dropped it and the display lightbulb busted. But as far as leaving you wanting a bowl afterwards, I haven't had that problem with the mighty because you get a nice pull and a nice puff off of it, not like other vapes that either leave you sucking till your veins pop or just feel like you're hitting nothing.

Let me know if you get one how it works out for ya! :)

>>>>I hit a volcano

My friends have a volcano and they don't leave home without it.  Seriously, they will be going down the road with the thing plugged into the cigarette lighter filling up turkey bags of vaporized herb.   When we are camping at shows, they break out an extension cord and plug it into any outlet they can find.  Works great, but wouldn't call it "portable."

Here is the volcano getting charged up at Wild Horse campground at the Gorge during a Phish run:

Damn fine lawn too.  Bermuda grass is my guess.

This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia.

No gophers. ***

I've had the PAX 2 since it came out and love it. No issues at all...

vaping doesn't get me high.

What about sunshine on  your shoulders?

Flowermaster

I love mine.

What about for vaping hash? Anyone know what I would need for that? Just plain old hash. I assume it requires some kind of higher fire power gadget. Thoughts?

Pax 3 comes with a concentrate/hash basket, works great, no complaints. Also, real easy maintenance.

Not A Fan Of Vape - Dry Steam ? BLECH -- Flower Only and or Hash In A Glass Piece.

TOD, at what temp do you have to put it for that? I think my vape has a hash basket too (I know I have it somewhere). Maybe I can just use the one I have...

Pax 3 has 4 settings, medium-high for bubble.

I've got a pax 1,2,3

pax 3 is for dual purpose...
