No a man died either from a cheap off-brand battery, very possible abused or misused, and likely due to lack of proper understanding and safety protocol that applies to ALL lithium batteries.
10 to 1 it was a hybrid mech mod or a scruffy old abused/overdriven battery to blame... or some combination thereof.
People don't realize the potential energy store in a modern lithium cell. The warnings are there for a reason.
