Openin in ct...nice

Might go.  Chicago will probably sell out.  He's also playing The Ryman!

$70 to $260 at The Beacon - ouch!

pass

The show I saw a few years ago was not even close to what he's capable of putting out.

Money for Knopfler

interesting

never been to his show.

I hadn't either, but I had seen him rip it up when he played for Clapton on one of Eric's tours back in the late 80's/early 90's.

My wife and I were all set up to have a great evening... hotel stumbling distance from the Berkeley Greek, nice buzz, good seats and no problems in the show or with our neighbors).

And while his band was very good, he let them do a lot of the heavy lifting while he acted, at times anyway, like a disinterested (too cool for school) front man (and definitely not the guitar virtuoso we know he can be).

Also, he really seems to hate 'having' to play his hits... I wish he had just not even bothered with Sultans after mailing in the leads and shatnerizing the singing parts.

I know people here loved the same show, but I went away unfulfilled and even a little pissed off, which is really rare for me.

My favorite album by far is the first.  Not even talking about Sultans of Swing.  That album is perfect.  You experience sounds kind of rough, I would probably be a little upset too!

same, played that first album to death in HS...

I saw him with Emmy Lou Harris and once solo opening for Dylan.  I was impressed both times but frustrated by how laid back he is.  Impeccable tone, never missed a note, really great playing overall but never just ripped.  I wanted him to go big and he never did.  Might go to the Milwaukee show

Saw Knopfler on my honeymoon in 2005 Shangri-la was our wedding song. When we arrived in San Francisco I checked the local entertainment paper to see who was playing where. We caught Tea leaf Green at The Great American Music Hall, before we left for Point Reyes then Yosemite, and when we returned coincidentally Knopfler was playing the Greek Theater for our last night in California.. Needless to say fantastic night. For the encore he opened the area in front of the stage on the rail for people to dance and take pictures. encore  Shangri-la

Needless to say I am going for 2 at the Beacon :-)

^nice

 (((happy endings)))

Saw Dire Straits so long ago I remember absolutely nothing about it. I'll be there. I've only ever seen one bad show at the Greek.

Never seen him solo, w band etc...but, saw him on that above mentioned Clapton tour (twice) , and saw The Straits twice also....enjoyed all of his playing, so , as i like alot of what ive seen and heard from what he s done since he hit Nashville to write a few years back etc...ill prob check it out....

this is the new song the break is killer
