Mayer and Adams Come Pick Me Up the forum

You know, the 2005 Jammy awards, which I have on DVD, turned out to be a significant launching point for future collaborations.

1) Phil Lesh hosts the show with Peter Shapiro, who goes on to build the Brooklyn Bowls and reopen the Capiol theater. Shapiro also puts Phil into indentured servitude, and consequently Lesh is not seen outside of a Shapiro-owned venue or festival (outside of TXR) for years.

2) Phil Lesh plays with Ryan Adams. Adams goes on to butcher a few shows with Phil and Phil goes on to cover Adams' entire catalog at his concerts, much to the consternation of his fans.

3) Phil Lesh plays with John Mayer. About a decade later, Mayer plays with Phil at TXR. Mayer goes on to take over for Jerry Garcia in the latest incarnation of the Grateful Dead, leading to much rejoice from Grateful Dead fans.

And now, John Mayer covers a Ryan Adams song, in an obvious play to get Grateful Dead fans to forgive Adams for what he did to Phil in 2005. We aren't falling for it.
