My son lives in downtown DC and joined up with his SDA comrades and others yesterday to counterprotest the MAGA rally. He sent me some reports and pictures.

He said there were thousands of Trump supporters. Not anywhere near a million, but the biggest Trump rally he had seen, including a huge contingent of hard core Proud Boys, and the counterprotesters were vastly outnumbered. Still, the Metro cops (who were openly franternizing with the Trump people) seemed way more concerned with the counterprotesters and blocked them off from the Trump rally:
Ironically, my son said that as the daytime counter-demonstration was winding down, the cops had them so blocked in that the only way out was through the Trump rally. My son and his buddy then had to run the gauntlet through there, but fortunately only taunts were exchanged.
After the sun went down, things got more rowdy with the police letting the Proud Boys roam the streets of DC starting fights and vandalizing memorials to victims of police violence at the BLM plaza and the White House fence. My son went out later on his skateboard and said the counter-protests at that point were basically hit and run harassment of the MAGA people, including at a bar called Harry's which is a favorite of the Proud Boys for some reason and only a couple blocks from my son's apartment.
My son said at one point, he was being chased down the street by hundreds of Proud Boys, but he was on a skateboard and knows the neighborhood, so he got back home safe.
