The Monterey Pop Festival 1967 - Outtake Performances

Thanks for that!  The Who were on a whole other level!

Would have loved to hear Mama Cass sit in with the Dead during a version of Dancin' in the Streets.  She was great!

Croz getting double duty with the Byrds and Buffalo Springfield (fillin-in for Neil). He claims it hastened his firing from the Byrds. That Byrds/Hey Joe performance is pretty Manic...

Gold:

10:02 Country Joe And The Fish - Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine

22:52 The Paul Butterfield Blues Band - Driftin' Blues (Full Performance)

27:37 Quicksilver Messenger Service - All I Ever Wanted To Do (Was Love You )

30:56 The Electric Flag - Drinkin 'Wine

The 50th Anniversary Criterion edition has outtake performances by Moby Grape, Steve Miller Band, and, yes, finally: The Grateful Dead.

They've been reissuing and remastering Monterey film and outtake footage since 2002, with the first bluray edition in 2009, and then again, as mentioned, in 2017.

Is it really as bad as legend has it?

“We have a tradition of blowing the big ones” - Phil Lesh

Nice flashback.  Thanks for sharing.   Enjoyed thoroughly.

Judge for yourself, Ken.

A little rough, especially at the beginning, but eventually got into a groove.  I have seen worse.  Video was pretty cool.

A brilliant idea for 1967 having a back line of Fender Bandmasters for almost all the bands to use.
