My rasta neighbor has a pitbull. He used to leave it tied up in his front yard and my family would pet it and play with it when we walked by.
This guy is a shitty pet owner. The dog's line was too short. The dog would get knotted up around a tree standing in his own shit. I had to refill the dog's water when he left for 24 hours without coming back to his house.
He moved the dog to the back of his house recently, so we don't see him anymore. But my nosey wife went to check on him and found he was covered in fleas and miserable. She said we should go treat him with advantix II, so he won't be miserable. I want to do this, but I would feel like a sucker paying $120/year to treat this guy's dog.
What would you do?

I use "Comfortis" which is the chemical Spinosad.

Works great on Hüsky. Chewable tablet that tastes / smells like Dog Treat. First dose, dozens of fleas jumped off the Dog and died. 30 days later, just a few. Third dose, no fleas visible. So it did the job.
However, it makes some animals sick, so talk to your neighbor and/or Vet.
I buy it from "Hoof & Hound" in Australia, no prescription needed and they have a great price. Same place I get the Heartworm stuff (Heartgard Plus). They sell it in different dosages based on the dog's weight. A six-month supply was maybe 60-70 bucks. However, the tablet is for 60 lb. --> 100 lb. Dogs so one could probably do fine with a half-dose ??
Talk to your Vet.

Call animal control pronto.
Call animal control pronto. Some people should not own a pet. Hopefully he treats his kids better.
When calling tell them " a neighbor a couple of doors down behind me" will take the heat off of you, if needed.
In a couple of weeks go to the pound and bring the dog home and show it some real love.

I'm devastatingly handsome.
My wife is definitely my better half. She's rehabbed a ton of injured feral animals (and used to be on perpetual 24/7 call to help). She fostered kittens. And she worked at the human society. 10 years ago, we stole a dog from our neighbors IN FRONT OF THEM after they were confronted and refused to get it's broken leg fixed. We got it surgery and fostered it until it was adopted. She's a badass.

Thanks! After 30 seconds of research, this seems like a viable solution. I'll talk to my neighbor first. Not sure how I'll explain that I know his dog has fleas when it's in his back yard though.
