Great movie. "Get busy living or get busy dying."

Watched And Justice for All over the weekend. I hadn't seen it in a few years. Love that movie.

"Being honest doesn't have much to do with being a lawyer."

WOW

Just watched the Wizard of Oz

Top Hat (1935) with Ginger Rogers next.

Been watching all old black & white movies with the sound off, while working.

Off tonight.

Treating myself to audio tonight -

Went and saw "the Death of Stalin" a few weeks ago at the local independent theater (Darkside),  great cast, very dark comedy, Loved it!

The Brooks Hadley stuff sucks.  I made a copy for myself where I erased most of his parts.  Especially the suicide garbage.  I would give the movie 4 stars except for that crap. 3.7

Plf Rob, check out the quirky film, Nebraska with Bruce Dern.

Just watched "Hostiles" last night.  Decent latter era Western.

PTSD sucks.

A go to film for me is "True Romance".   Tarantino's first screenplay to hit the big screen.

Crazy Heart on HBO- first time- I enjoyed it.

First oscar for the Dude

^^^nebraska is great!

"In Bruges" was entertaining last night.

Three Billboards

King Kong {1933} > On the Waterfront {1954} tonight ~

Vanessa Del Rio Does the Sunset Strip. Just OK. Perhaps a bit dated.

Regrading Current Movies:

Has anyone seen "Goti" with John Travolta or Sicario: Day of Salado?

Showed Citizen Kane to the wife not too long ago. Just an incredible movie in every single way.

I’m a big old time film buff. Particularly Film Noir. AMC is always showing some great lesser known flicks of great quality. I’ve been exposed to some great performances and some terrific story lines. There’s so many good flicks from great directors that may not have won an Oscar but were certainly worthy.

Sullivan's Travels is playing in a theater in a few weeks and I'm thinking about seeing it.

Just came back from seeing "Sicario: Day of Salado" with my father.

Best movie I've seen out of this decade, so-far.

>>Showed Citizen Kane to the wife

I am just seeing this is being aired Saturday afternoon. Thanks to you, I'll have set up n the DVR.

I feel in love with Fay Wray, by-the-way...

Sci Fi...Children of Men

Not bad...

Just saw "TAG' a 2018 comedy & loved it!

Really reminded me of all you folks here & our often-competitive-comradery.

Pot smoking fun-fun-fun.

We saw the new Mission Impossible flick with T. Cruise this afternoon & thought it was excellent.

Best MI yet ~

Just got back from seeing Kurosawa's Yojimbo at the Hollywood Theater in 35mm.   Never seen it before but have seen the unauthorized remake "A Fistful of Dollars."   Same movie scene for scene.  Anyway, excellent movie in all respects.

Yojimbo II.jpg

The Hollywood Theater is also having an upcoming Planet of the Apes fest.  All eight movies in chronological order.

Secondhand Lions - awesome movie and family friendly.

Dinosaur 13 - documentary about the excavation of the T-Rex, Sue, and the legal battle over who had ownership of the remains.

Midnight in Paris - terrific movie and very entertaining for anyone with a love for Paris, art and literature of the 1920's (and I generally don't care for Woody Allen).

See anything new 4winds?

Yesterday, I took my father to see Denzel Washington in Equalizer 2.

He likes Denzel and that type of flick. It worked out.

To many guns and loud bangs fo me - a 2 Star Movie for the first half & 3 for the second half.

Not really.  Saw IT.

Want to see Isle of Dogs, Ready Player One and Wonder.

Speaking of Denzel, I recently watched The Great Debaters.  It's ten years old, but a first.  Good movie.

I had a short stay at Shawshank, the place it was filmed, Mansfield Reformatory. Zoo

>>Speaking of Denzel, I recently watched The Great Debaters.

Hi 4winds

Looks a great movie, I see it won the NAACP Film award that year. We are going to see if its at the library Saturday

My son is on the way over & we are going to see Ant-Man & the Wasp?

w/a rating

Saw Crazy Rich Asians on Tuesday night.  Good movie for a date night with your spouse or significant other.

Speaking of Denzel, saw the Equalizer 1 this past weekend.  It was pretty wild.  He was a like a Black Batman from Home Depot.

>>going to see Ant-Man & the Wasp

Great movie!

*** 1/2 stars

>>Speaking of Denzel, saw the Equalizer 1 this past weekend.

We picked that up too last week & it came with 4 other Oscar Winners in the box from that year.  I think we have it for 1 more week I want see it.

I'm about half way through 'Speed Racer', and while some of it is incomprehensible, it is for the most part pretty fucking rad.

i'm watching it in 10 to 15 minute spurts.

Today is the 237th day of the year,  so it's international "The Shining" day.

Kubrick does some interesting stuff in there.

Many film buffs have written detailed analyses...  "Room 237" and so on.

Oh neat, I did not know that.

Just watched a movie on HBO called 3 billboards outside of Ebbings, Missouri.

Interesting movie. Very dark.  Kept my interest though.  Came out last yr. Never heard of it.

Anybody else seen it?

the-onion-field.15072.jpg

Well made thriller/drama from 1979 featuring a young-ish James Woods, John Savage, Ted Danson, Christopher Lloyd and a few other familiar faces.

His son Mark Wambaugh was in my class growing up, we partied hard together at times...  died a year or two after high school down in Mexico, very sad...

But the Onion Field and Blue Knight were great....

DaBreeze, a relative of mine was a lawyer on that case.

Haven't watched many movies lately,  but did take my daughter to see Christopher Robin...  we both enjoyed it.

I watched the Infiltrator with Bryan Cranston over the weekend. Pretty intense movie about how US Customs used an undercover agent to break up Pablo Escobar's money laundering operation.

Just watched Paths Of Glory...a 1957  very early Kubrick work....a much underrated World War 1 flik starring Kirk Douglas....ive watched it three times in past 2-3 years....very good , different type of war movie.

>> Isle of Dogs

Good movie.

Also just watched....

Three Identical Strangers.   Pretty awesome.   Highly Recommended.

Beirut - Good in a generic middle east drama way.

Some movie on making an artificial sun.   I fell asleep.

If there's a better film, I'd like someone to make me aware of it, often we think of Grateful Dead Tour as a purely musical endeavor, but it was and is a struggle for the consciousness of a nation, Viva la Revolución!

https://youtu.be/1cnoM8EiGGU

Watched Baby Driver, it was good, but I don't understand all the hype.

Saw Operation Finale yesterday with my father; while the movie was not too good, there was enough poetry in motion & imagery in the day, to make up for that.

also...I have this odd weakness for Rango.

Been on a Chinese language with subtitles movie kick lately. The cheesier the better!

I'm just coming back from Ant-Man and the Wasp, and I had a great time. Cannot wait for Captain Marvel.

Marvel's really got it going on.

Yes Ant-man was very very good.

Thursday night I was invited for a free re screening of "Light in the Darkness" a documentary on the racial Nazi Gang like Killing back in 2008 one town over from me of a very young full of-hope Hispanic man "Lucero".

It was National news at the time & now on PBS doc.

There is a massive amount of prejudice in this world & was actually fearing for my life as I walked to my car with Mexico Soccer shirt on.

In fact more, but technology and heart felt Police training is helping. But just last week a mother of a murdered gang member was killed 5 days prior to me seeing this film, 7 miles from this theater.

Some of you will laugh, but the new Nic Cage revenge flick, "Mandy" is something else.

It's purposely "trippy" without being cartoony in the way psychedelic portrayal can be.  Gorgeous film.

Plus, Nic Cage!

(I love Rango, Zang. its like a movie version of a Girl Talk song, chock full of samples, allusions and references)

Pretty sure there were at least a few Phil Lesh shows that this actress attended, which was kind of cool in a zeitgeist sort of way, that she was in the building...one of the great scenes in film, you are home!!!!!

Gandhi 1982

This acclaimed biographical drama presents major events in the life of Mohandas Gandhi (Ben Kingsley), the beloved Indian leader who stood against British rule over his country. Dedicated to the concept of nonviolent resistance, Gandhi is initially dismissed by English officials, including the influential Lord Irwin (John Gielgud), but eventually he and his cause become internationally renowned, and his gatherings of passive protest move India towards independence.

Sir Ben Kingsley "becomes" Gandhi...it's a life changing film.

I was just thinking of that exact movie all week long.  My father and I saw so many epic movies from 1969-1984.

Gandhi was the last film we saw at the now defunct "Pequa Movie Theater" in Massapequa Long Island.

The movie was so long, we had sit in the car for 10 minutes to re adjust to seeing daylight ever again.

Ben sucked in that Nazi hunt movie this year. I think I wrote that up there..^

"Green Book" is the best movie out this weekend.

Right down my alley. Hope to see it...

Just saw the 3 billboards movie.

A+

Really good.

73guy's suggestion is interesting.

Had some sick down time this week and enjoyed the coen's remake of True Grit starring Jeff Bridges and Mat Damon as the Ranger La * beef ' oddly enough on the over air broadcast channel named Grit. Not an unsurmountable amount of advertisements like on cable either.

First time seeing it. A descent effort of a hard remake. Very small subtle differences in the screenplay.

Fantastic dialogue and linguistics up to par with the original in this remake. Worth a watch.

Spent the weekend with my Luv.

We watched 2 great flicks.

The Post & Moneyball.

If you are going to see three movies (assuming you haven't already seen them), check out The Favourite, Roma, and Vice.  There is a reason why they got so many Oscar nods.  The Favourite is the best of the bunch.

For all you hikers and campers.....Backcountry

>>Just saw the 3 billboards movie.

A+

Really good.

Sam Rockwell's redemption in 3 Billboards is one of the best performances of his career.

Old Man and a Gun= nice little film
