My Morning Jacket, four nights SF Fillmore

A NYE show at the Fillmore is where I first saw this band. I didn't know who they were, I just went for the party, and they absolutely blew me away. In almost 40 years of seeing shows in that venue that show remains a top-3 all-time Fillmore show for me, so I'm looking forward to these.

Pre-sales are this Thursday, regular on-sale is Friday, presale codes are...

how'd ya do on tix, lance?

These r Gonna b epic, fo sho.

As someone who only really got into these guys a little less than a decade ago, I've never seen them any place remotely as small as the good ol' fillmore and I might never cause I'm not much for presales and quick sellout fervor events which this seemed to turn into in spades.

I half ass tried and failed miserably and won't b paying over $200 for the Ticketbastard resell nonsense.

Plus mmj is one of those bands, imo, where u need to see all shows in a run or you'll inevitably miss the one(s) you'd have preferred to attend.

The mid week scheduling of these performances and the day off in the middle just adds to that challenge.

that being said, if anyone hears about tix for Friday at face, pretty please keep me in mind cause I love this band.

I did manage to get into one of the sold out Wilco shows at the Fillmore for face last time they played there and were far too big for it to b an easy ticket. it was cool but I doubt will even touch these shows. That run had plenty of repeats, but it's kind of been an open secret for quite some time that mmj is a better cooler band :)

my 1st show w/ them was at a HOB. I was on the bus immediately somewhere around 2002-4?

this one of the few modern ROCK bands worth a shit.

never been to the fillmore...

be cool if they were streamed

You've never been to the Fillmore?

do u even SF, bro?

guess not...

Saw them twice. I don't get the attraction, but I know a lot of people that dig them.

>>>how'd ya do on tix, lance<<<

In classic fashion I forgot about the presale so I was a few hours late, but I was still able to get in for the first night. Naturally, all the shows sold out instantly on the regular onsale, and my 'innie' connections are now mostly a thing of the past so I guess I'll have to settle for one show, but especially these days that will be fine for me.

>>>Saw them twice. I don't get the attraction<<<

A fairly common & understandable take. I'm guessing one of those two was at Outside Lands in 2010, when they played before Furthur? That was a VERY forgettable show.

Not counting the various times they played the Bridge Benefit shows (the last one where they served as Roger Waters band and were BRILLIANT) I've seen MMJ 10 or 11 times over the years, and I'd say 3 of them were, at least for me, duds.

Despite often being very inaccurately labeled as a jamband, they do play different set lists from show to show, and because of the vast array of styles they play in any given show not every show is going to click.

But take my word for it Woz, they are a GREAT rock band, and if a ticket to one of these Fillmore shows crosses your path I say give 'em another chance and...

GO TO THE SHOW!!!

Yes, Outside Lands was the first time I saw them. the other was one of the Fall music festivals on Mount Tam. I think Jim James has a great voice, I just found their material to be mediocre. I should check one of the Fillmore shows out.

Just got a reasonably priced (compared to most shows these days, anyways) live nation resale ticket for the first night... I was on the fence, but that Lance is a hell of a salesman.

Rock band, pop Jam band, call 'em what you want but I'd say it's a B- experience if you're into the Grateful Dead or Phish or anything that will take you to the next level.

I'm sure a ticket will comemy way, too many friends insisting I just caught the "dud" shows so I'll give them another go...

I'm with woz. wanted to like them, saw twice

awful lot of noise. apparently I just don't get it

for the fans going I hope the shows are great

Never got into male singer songwriter bands like mmj or Ryan and the cardinals.

I'm going to Rosali and Mary Timony at the Rickshaw next week. Bummed I missed snail mail a few weeks ago. Ladies rock.

loves me some jacket

not really, just wanted to refer to them as such

As others have said, I wanted to like them, but they just didn't do it for me.  Same goes for the Flaming Lips in a similar sort of way.

it's "ok" not to like it or get it..

if anyone has a spare I'd fly up for one.

Check out this show next week. Constellation Saturday or casbah Friday.

Damn, now I'm starting to feel like Monday is the day to go.

Will they open with 'at dawn'?

I'm still novice enough with This band to have never seen that even though I've been into them for almost a decade.

Maybe Monday and Friday?

dare I dream the impossible dream?

if you've never experienced a quality jacket show it's your loss
