So a couple of Dutch Girls graduated college and went to Panama to study Spanish, and volunteer at a school.

They go on a day-hike in the jungle and vanish. Months later their backpack is found with cel-fones, camera, clothing, water bottle. Then a hiking boot with a foot turns up; some other bones.

First I've heard about it, although another dozen or so people have disappeared in the same area since then.

I tend to think they met up

I tend to think they met up with a Bad crowd and got killed, after reading the story.

The Panama investigators really didn't do their job, or the search happened but local politicians wrecked evidence.

Really, the weird part is finding their Day-Pack a couple months later with cel-phones and Camera, then the Foot in Boot.
Some sort of very bad people seem to have been involved.

Another 20 or so people have vanished in the same region.
