Neil Young in Telluride

Forums:

... maybe.   Not a done deal, but looks like the wheels are in motion for 1-2 shows in town park during the 3rd weekend in August.

This would be so perfect if one could actually find a ticket.  Could be my first Birthday shoe.  A big one too.

wha was hoping for a Crazy Horse @the  bluegrass fest! I'm stoked with the current lineup for the 50th...

FaceOnMars can I email you for some tips for a Telluride BG newbie?

Sure thing.   The following message board often has good tips too ...

FOM

you got mail...

Any updates on this?  I'd like to make some plans if it's real.

According to thrasherswheat.org, the Telluride Town Council is meeting to determine an exact date on June 7th, and then will vote whether to approve the event on June 13th:

Neil posted today on his instagram: "Tour dates  coming to you  soon..."

I know T-ride is $$$$ but any recommendations for a place to stay?

Also I have friends visiting there for the first time next week

where should they eat?

what should they see?

Man that would be a bucket list. I haven't been there since the Harmonic Convergence.

Application pulled yesterday for the show. Oh well.  it was a fun idea.  Council Meeting tomorrow from 2-4 est so maybe there will be more inofrmation.  Looks like the mushroom festival people complained which is weird because A) perfect match and B) more business.

My guess is they just went with some other locations and he's doing a mini tour,

Also the notes say that it could have been solo or with a band.

must see my daughters new house!!!
in conifer co 1 1/2 miles elevation -says only 18 mons on back roads from red rocks!

Tour starts in July on the west coast announced this week.  80% of songs will be old but that he hasn't played live.  Announcement this week.

As reported on thrasherswheat,org:

Neil was fun today on the Patrons Zoom meeting.

He started with a joke that he was not Neil but AI Neil. AI Neil will write all his future songs and he sounds just like Neil Young. Fun joke. Neil had glasses on and he talked a bit about that including that his plan is to get some junk yard frames and put corrective lenses in them in the future.

He spent 3 hours this morning listening and approving ATMOS recordings of Zuma, Rust Never Sleeps, and Comes A Time albums and talked about how this took him back to those sessions.

NYA Vol 3 will include a lot of first takes of recordings. He said he liked to start there to hear how the history of the song as opposed to the take that made it to the albums. He said something like 78 or these would be on vol 3. Vol 3 should be out by the end of the year. There was some mention of how much fun he had playing with Stills. They rehearsed together before Light Up The Blues but not too much. He said they played together for an hour every Wednesday for 2 months before the show.

The album Ragged Glory was culled from a bunch of live in the studio recordings. He said some of the unused takes are quite trippy and will be released as something called Raggedly Glorious.

He said his next tour would start in July on the West Coast in a very small venue next to a larger more famous venue and would be announced on the NYA site this week. He said 80 percent of the songs played would be ones he has recorded but not played live. He specifically mentioned Prime Of Life (which of course was played in Arizona in 1994, not sure how many other times.) Also If You Got Love. He said he has been rehearsing 16 or 17 of these types of songs. Tour will be solo acoustic.

While talking about an upcoming video of Mirror Ball live, Neil specifically mentioned Song X and his favorite song from that time Scenery. Maybe those will be in the upcoming setlist?

It was great to see Neil and he seems pumped up to get back on the road.

Expecting To Fly

Last Neil acoustic shows i saw were mostly hits, new songs, and a few lesser hits. It'd be nice to see him go really deep this time.
