White Girl

It's one of those flicks that you're either going to love or hate.

I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I'd love to discuss one particular scene with anyone who has seen it. Was it a crime, or was it part of the game that the white girl was willingly playing?

If you've seen it you'll know what I'm talking about.

I liked Captain Fantastic yes  you really do get that off the grid feeling

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3553976/

I saw White Girls - loved it!

First of all, I didn't even know until AFTER the movie was over that those were two WAYANS BROTHERS playing the white girls! They're so crazy!!

Crazy TALENTED!!!

definitely six stars rating, no f'n kidding. RUN, don't walk, to watch this movie on Netflix

Not White Girls, White Girl.

Polar opposite movies.

Nymphomaniac Volume 1 and 2. This two part movie is fascinating. I recommend the directors cut.

I liked Part 1 of Nymphomaniac, but ended up turning off Part 2.

The end of part two is like whoa.

Check out White Girl.

It's on my que. This better not be a chick flick.

Far from it. Very, very far from it.

Ok I'm offline until I watch it tonight. Don't want spoilers. Skipped over your first post as well.

Lars and the Real Girl.

I loved Captain Fantastic also, Bart. I'm not sure it's on Netflix yet though. It was for sure a great movie!

Put it on the list.

The Guest - crazy homage to 80's action/thrillers.

You'll LOVE white girls Zippy, definitely not a chick flick it's hilarious

Yesterday a friend recommended Sky Ladder: The Art of Cai Guo-qiang
She says, extraordinary pyrotechnics. Not your typical fireworks show.

Network.  Sidney Lumet classic about schlock news that has never been more apt.

Rare Exports.  Finnish scary Christmas movie.

That was difficult to watch. Like a wreck on the Interstate and you can't look away. Holy fuck.

One of the best movies I've ever seen. Very realistic.

Just watched Grosse Pointe Blank, good movie, I recommend it.

Zippy, are you talking about White Girl?

So Zip, if you did watch White Girl. My original question...

Was it a crime, or a part of the game she was willingly playing? I go wth the latter, which forces me to challenge my own beliefs. In any and every other situation she would be a victim.

She's an amazing actress, and she played a contemptible character.

That was no actress that was MARLON WAYANS DUDE!!! That's why it's so funny and amazing. (I think it was Marlon. It might have been another wayan.)

Both. She was an addict and she was alone with no real friends. She did what she had to do for her next hit.

Addiction makes you do things you wouldn't do otherwise. So yeah, she willingly played the game to stay high. I also

think she was too young and ignorant to know what would happen in the end. He was the criminal but they both broke the law.

I think her boss took the money btw.

Interesting...

The whole theme was white privilege. It was all a game to her, and she said and did what she wanted to get what she wanted. Oops, she had a few lumps along the way.

Remember in the beginning, she said something like, "It always works out for me." When the money was gone, her boss said, "It'll work out for you." (I don't think he took it - he was loaded anyway)

At the end of the day, she ruined lives, caused death and jail, and where was she? Back in class.

White privilege.

It really is a great movie.

She did try to say something but she was scared and ashamed. As I say though I don't think she was smart enough

to know what either man was capable of. She should have known. It was obvious to anyone paying attention.

Her attention was lost in a haze of coke and lust. Because she was an addict it's hard for me to

say she was guilty.

I didn't see any privilege but I also don't buy into this whole race war propaganda. It's a class war based on money,

not skin color. If you are poor it doesn't matter what race you are, the cops will still beat you. I think minorities

use race as an excuse. Dress poor and be treated poor. The biggest privilege she had was her vagina.

I'm not convinced that she was an addict.

The title alone, "White Girl," is the big clue about the theme.

Remember when the lawyer said that a white kid who stabs someone wil get less time than a brown kid with a small quantity of drugs? Or when the undercover cop asked what she was doing there, but didn't try to bust her when she came back around? It always works out for the white girl.

I love movies like this because there are no answers, and I think about them for days afterwards.

I saw the movie completely differently. Race is an excuse. She was obviously an addict and got caught up in her addiction.

You read too much into the race baiting. Maybe that was your white guilt or the fact that you've always had a place

to wash your ass. To me the movie had nothing to do with skin pigment or privilege.

It was a sobering warning and a glimpse into a life of crime.

btw I recognized the corrections officer in the Manhattan Detention Center for the first visitation scene. He was

a real CO that usually works in booking. I've been to that city jail on White Street a couple of times. That shit was real.

I read an interview with the woman who wrote it. It's semi-autobiographical, and about white privilege. You may not agree with that as a whole, but it was her intent in writing it.

No need to get personal.

Suck it up, mustard boy. You got personal with me not even 48 hours ago. Race baiting may have been her goal but she failed

to get that bias across to me. The movie reminded me of why I took my last line of yay in 2005.

Mustard Boy?

I call you BK because we used to joke about masturbating with Burger King mustard packets for lube. Probably ten years ago.

You were the one who suggested using BK brand mustard.  Nick was involved.

That's hot!
