a few weeks ago in a thread someone called Burke, the greatest living  American author, I agree. New book out today, do yourself a favor read him, start with Neon Rain work forward. Crime novels, for sure but so much more. I mean really the guy has won 2 Edgar Awards, btw avoid any movie made from his novels

OK. It was good. Very good. But not one of his best.  I thought a few loose ends were left.  But the man can really write. His descriptions of nature(both real and imagined)  are mesmerizing.   Maybe the next one he joins Clete in his PI business. Getting too old and too tired of the BS at the New Iberia Sheriffs office.

And I was damn sorry to see Smiley leave. One of my favorite characters in recent reads.
