New Orleans isn’t Louisiana, unfortunately, it’s in Louisiana

How Louisiana's Anti-LGBTQ+ Laws Forced This Gay Heart Transplant Cardiologist to Move....

...As he is director of the pediatric heart transplant program at Ochsener Hospital for Children — the only pediatric heart transplant center in Louisiana — his departure leaves the state with only two other pediatric heart transplant cardiologists who can provide such care.

There's a world of difference between north and south Louisiana.

The urban rural divide has been around for 6000 years.  Social media is exacerbating the issue.

Yes, rural is best for incest statistically...    but $20 is $20

The thing that Republicans don't understand is that oppressing a minority is fine as long as that is the way it has always been. Taking rights away from people is a whole different game.

That doctor would probably have been fine living in New Orleans in the 70's through the 90's because that is the way it has always been and they most likely wouldn't come after a doctor. He also wouldn't have been able to have kids. But now it feels different when they try to roll back to that time.

Of course the Republicans of today will take no responsibility for any of this, and we are just days away from seeing a Fox News piece blaming a death on a doctor that moved. They should just stop being "political" and do their jobs.

they should make a corridor and link it to austin.

Maybe NOLA, Nashville and Austin need to be "Sun Citied".  And whatever passes for a tourist mecca in AL.

North La. is the heart of the bible belt.

South La. is the fun zone.

Doesn't have anything to do with this thread, just clarifying what I said above. And that had nothing to do with this thread either.

Northern Louisiana is predominantly Protestant and heavily Evangelical.  Southern Louisiana is predominantly Roman Catholic.

Outside of New Orleans, it's all pretty conservative.  I wouldn't say that Southern Louisiana's next two biggest cities, Baton Rouge and Lafayette (I'm not counting Metairie, which is a bedroom suburb of New Orleans) are particularly progressive or liberal places.

Hey I'll be in NOLA for a few days for work in a couple of weeks.  Any Dead Head friendly hangouts?  I will also be in Corpus Cristi, Gulfport MS and Meridian MS.   Any tips on cool bars would be appreciated.

You'll need to know the password response.

When the doorman says, "Test me. Test me," you know what to say.

just remember where you got your shoes

I lived in Lafayette in the mid 70's.  Was a party town.   Prolly would be living there now if not for the humidity.

Thanks Noodler.

I like The Howlin Wolf, Chickie Wah Wah, The Maple Leaf, and the Circle Bar.  Frenchman's Street in the Marigny District, just across Esplanade from the French Quarter has several live music joints packed in a 2 block strip.  Highly recommend a trip there.  Avoid Bourbon Street like the plague.  It's a tourist trap overrun with a bunch of drunken amateurs and reeks of piss and vomit.
