"New" venue - Baltimore suburbs (Arlo, Los Lobos, Hot Tuna, ....)

Forums:

Not physically new, but under new management who's apparently decided to widen their offerings beyond theatrical performances.....

The Gordon Center is a very comfortable, modern 550 seat room with superb acoustics and excellent sightlines located in Baltimore County (Owings Mills). A "little-old-lady-usher" sort of place that sounds so good, a PA seems unnecessary. I recommend checking it out if you are in Balto/DC area (even Philly/Delaware), as it is one of the nicer small venues around, with easy highway access and easy (free) parking.

Tickets on sale now for fall /winter shows -- Arlo Guthrie, Los Lobos, Traveling McCourys, Hot Tuna, Graham Nash....

Nice.  20 Minutes from my bro.

I've seen Richard Thompson and Aztec Two-Step at a nearby JCC.

Don't let those little old ladies fool you.  They're Mossad-trained.

for the tech geeks --- supposedly this stuff is really good.. all I know is that the room is so intimate, it's possible to throw a bowling ball from the rear wall to the stage

With the help of Baltimore-based A/V integration firm HP Electronics, the Gordon Center recently upgraded its sound reinforcement system with Danley’s Pure Groove PG-96 loudspeakers, Danley TH-118 subwoofers, and Danley’s new DNA-Series amplifiers, with onboard DSP and presets for every Danley loudspeaker and subwoofer.

“When the Gordon Center decided it was time for an upgrade, several loudspeaker shootouts were arranged that ultimately pitted a dozen or so loudspeaker manufacturers against each other,” explained Joe Schwartz, A/V sales designer at HP Electronics. “At the outset, they wanted to avoid a line array solution because of its dominant visual aesthetic and their preference for the sound of point source boxes. The fidelity and impact of the Danley boxes really wowed them and won the day.”

Three beefy Danley Pure Groove PG-96 loudspeakers form a left-center-right system that covers all of the Gordon Center’s permanent seating. Four Danley TH-118 subwoofers flown above and behind the center PG-96 provide ample low-end support, and a Danley SM-96 provides front fill when the orchestra pit is used for seating. An existing Allen & Heath DLive console feeds three new Danley DNA 20k4 Pro amplifiers, which deliver twelve channels and 60,000W total in just six combined rack spaces. HP Electronics technician David Martin relied on the Danley DNA onboard DSP processing and Danley’s presets to provide ideal starting points during system tuning.

Tempting, about 75 minutes from Newark.  $140 plus tax for 2 tickets to Hot Tuna, have to mull it over..
