My sister used to live just down the road in Carolina Beach when she was in grad school a bunch of years ago. There is a small but nice aquarium that is worth a look just south of Carolina Beach if you are into that kind of thing.

Greenfield Lake Amphitheater
Greenfield Lake Amphitheater looks nice but not seeing that there are any shows while we’re there. Heading out Saturday for a week, should be fun. If anyone is in the area and wants to say hi, let me know.

The battleship USS North
The battleship USS North Carolina is in Wilmington. Kai and I have been to 5 battleship museums and this is the best of the bunch. Probably because it was turned into a museum relatively soon after WWII. So, there are lots of rooms, turrets, and other areas to explore and it is more intact (more guns, a sea scout plane, equipment, etc), than other "mothball" ships that we have checked out.
When we were there, we even viewed wild alligators from the bow.
If you or anyone in your family is into that sort of thing, I highly recommend a visit.
That's about all I know about the area (we drove up from Charleston to go to the ship).
