Seriously, how can you distinguish between Democrats and Republicans?
...the bill states the NC DOT or local governments can’t provide free charging stations unless they also provide free gasoline and diesel fuel. The bill also would provide state funds to remove charging stations that didn’t comply

Brian, providing this service in order to promote EV use is a step towards reducing the consumption of petroleum and is a defensible governmental policy.

Thanks for the clarification, OLTC. Yes, it's inaccurate, or at least should be. I think we assume that the Dems will do tangible work, the heavy lifting, to make the country, and hence the world, a better place for all people, but with the obstructions and blockades presented by the Repubs (the usual suspects) there's no forward motion.
I think it always seems to come back to coalition building, education, grass roots action, but mostly coalition building and working together among politicians since as an individual I can only create change in small numbers.

My guess is it was an incentive program to encourage folks to buy EVs, and, in turn, create new industrial opportunities. But they're not all free anymore.

When the dems are in power they complain that the repubs don't allow them to do what is right. When the repugs were in power they did whatever necessary to put forward their agenda.
Like I said above, the 2 parties are not the same. They are just owned by the same powers.

^the Republican agenda is basically tax cuts( can be achieved through reconciliation ) and deregulation (can be achieved through executive order and now judicial rulings)
Much of Democratic agenda requires legislation which can be derailed in the Senate. (60 vote threshold)
Need at least 53 Democratic Senators who are willing to abolish the filibuster.
Relying on Manchin to vote for a democratic agenda is hopless.
Affordable care act was passed through reconciliation.
Trumps tax cut was passed through reconciliation.

It's more than an example, it's the most influential and lasting part of any presidential administration. It used to be a chance to set precedent, now it's "we have the votes, so fuck you." Separation of church and state? Forget it. Gun laws? No way. A 50 year old precedent guaranteeing women control of their own bodies? Yeah, fuck that.

Let states ban same sex marriage, ban contraception, and grant state legislators the authority to overrule voters.
