October 2021 Jazz Fest Cancelled

Damn yo

Freedom haters

the url is ironic

^ LOL! How true....URL says it all!

Will ironic URLs be the next thing?

Or did we already miss it?

That's a bummer.  Was kind of expecting it with the lack of vaccinations and surging COVID cases in NOLA.

Oh well, I'm about to have a lot of extra cash courtesy of refunds.  I had tickets for both weekends, and 8 tickets for Stones Wednesday.  The tickets for the 13th are being automatically refunded, and they will give us the option to have the weekend tickets refunded or to roll them over until next Spring.  My guess is that Alaska Airlines will not refund my tickets, but will let me use them for another trip.

C'est la vie.

Yeah, that sucks. Damn, we were on such a roll and heading the right way.

My buddy in SF is thinking there's going to be some severe restrictions on Hardly Strictly Oct 1,2,and 3, IF it happens at all. I may blow it off voluntarily, and end up with a credit on Southwest.

bummer, well maybye I can do next spring, was looking at flights and stones tickets...but wasnt very reasonable

Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg. I was with a number of touring musicians today and everyone of them have been told hang loose this week because decisions are being made this week if various tours will be canceled/postponed and festivals being canceled. If you have upcoming shows and are traveling make sure you can cancel travel arrangements.  .

This feels like March 2020,  Philoween just may never occur

If everyone had vaxxed as soon as it was available we could have regular school this fall - and regular concerts as well. Fuckin'  Trumpers .

Vaccinated AND continued to wear masks. I continue to shake my head that didn't happen when we were close to the goal line.

As for the "Fuckin' Trumpers", I agree that many of them share in the blame. Unfortunately, maybe because I don't hang with that demographic, I don't know many of them. I am amazed at the amount of anti-Trump people who are refusing to get vaccinated, wear masks, etc. At least in the music world, those anti-vax numbers are growing in leaps and bounds. I know way too many of them already and I have been cutting off contact with them.

Well, to be honest, this old codger wasn't going to be showing up for Kimock's 1:30 AM show anyway.

1:30 PM matinee would be more like it.

I started wearing a mask in all public indoor spaces again two weeks ago when the CDC recommended it.  Many people are ignoring that recommendation though.  Once the genie is out of the bottle, it's hard to get it back in, I suppose.  In my store, I tell those who ask that wearing a mask is their choice.  Many choose to mask up, but some don't.  Not really sure what it will take to get everyone to take this seriously:  over-capacity ER's, everything shutting down again, massive die-offs?

I am pretty sure that indoor shows are going to start getting canceled after labor day.......we are going backwards frown

My county is bright red on the covid map.

A group of idiots on the news raising hell at a school board meeting calling masks "child abuse".  One had a t-shirt labeled "Tyranny response team".

If only it would just kill THEM.

This type of behavior is beyond stupid

Very bummed, but JazzFest will be back when society grows up a little, hopefully.

JazzFest tix, hotels/AirBnB and airfare (Southwest) will all be refunded. It's the JRAD night tix I might take a bath...

Nice to see some touring acts demanding proof of vaccination and mandatory mask wearing, both inside and outside of their audiences. Hopefully this will take hold with everyone out there on the road. Nobody wins unless everyone wins.

It's a good practice to implement, COVID is not going away and shut downs and cancellations are not the answer. We have to learn to live with this.

can you imagine trying to enforce mandatory mask wearing at a dead show full of spun wooks? oh my god

plus, dont most venues sell drinks and food, meaning there will be tons of unmasked people around you all the time?

sounds like a pretty lucrative oppertunity for the venues - if you want to take your mask off in the venue you just have to buy your charade beer and put it in your cupholder

probably just better to avoid concerts if you are not comfortable assuming the risk that comes with being unmasked around vaccinated and/or tested people
