Old Olympic theme song

Forums:

I miss the old fanfare. I wonder why it was changed.

It was quite grand and glorious indeed. The triumphs, the tragedies. I always loved  the footage of the skiing jumper doing a major wipe out myself, twisted I know.

Rick Wakeman's "White Rock" for the 1976 Winter Olympics never got the respect it deserved!

Here's another cool fanfare. National Geographic.

This'll get stuck in your brain, guaranteed.

A fanfare can be described as a sharply ascending line typically making interval leaps rather than following a scale.

Wes Montgomery's lines often had fanfare-like constructions.

Sorry.

White rock in the 1970s? Hmm. I wonder if Wakeman might've had something else in mind with that title.

You can always play the Salt Lake Scandal version: The "A-Limp-Fix" Song.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwEULXPwUkk

Did I hear the organ player at the hockey game final play Dylan's "Forever Young?" Coulda sworn.

Somewhat related, I thought it was an interesting take...  https://www.instagram.com/irenesangocomedy/reel/DUx6J4hjNPC/

The thrill of victory; the agony of de feet.

They still used Williams fanfare this year

I only remember the ski jump wipe out scene as part of the opening to ABC"s Wide World of Sports that aired on Saturday afternoons.

And speaking of wipe outs, that's around the time that Mr. Whipple became a spokesman for Charmin tp.

Cool link, Astro. Her line about going down a mountain on a school tray cracked me up.
