It should not go without mention that August 3rd 2025 was Bob Weir's final performance, appropriately in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
Although there were some good moments during that three day Dead & Co. run, overall it was not a memorable weekend musically, but in retrospect they are very meaningful shows because they were Bob's last. Certainly Bob knew that and I believe the band knew as well, I can only imagine what the emotions were backstage and on stage during that weekend.
Has anyone ever performed more big league concerts than Robert Hall Weir? And going out in that place, in front of sixty thousand fans covering six+ generations each night, all I can say is atta' boy Bobby, and long live the Grateful Dead!

I remember the 8/3 show that
I remember the 8/3 show that I saw as being musically quite rough, and vocally even more so (but much better than 8/1 which I watched on the stream). I listened back a few months later and it was indeed very clunky, with a few nice moments of course. The highlight of the day for me was the Trey set, and after that I was pretty much the happiest guy in the world, so I didn't mind hanging out for the Dead show with 60,000 pretty kind folks for what I figured would probably be the last time (I was praying they wouldn't announce another Sphere run with the band in that shape).
But damn if it wasn't a fine time. Thanks Bobby.

I've also heard that Billy booked Bethel for same weekend next year, and a longshot rumor about a show in Humboldt, but no details are surfacing.
Isn't it interesting that JGB / Melvin are playing at Porter Pavilion on Kauai, too?
A 3-night run is happening 3rd weekend of September, unfortunately overlapping with Jerry's Middle Finger at Hogfarm's Fall Celebration.

I was there all three nights, and the music wasn't great, but that didn't seem to matter to me. The vibe of finally seeing a show in GG Park's Polo Fields was awesome. There were some good moments of music by D$C. I thought Saturday was the best DeadCo show of the 3. I also finally got to see Billy Strings and Sturgill Simpson. The Trey set was fantastic, and "Mission In The Rain" was emotional. So was Grahame on Big Brown singing Box of Rain was quite emotional for me, and I loved it, and how they wove Grahame into all three shows. I wish I had the stamina for the late-night (Heart of Town) shows, but I just couldn't stand any more.
Bobby passed the day before my father's funeral. My dad was my show-going buddy. That was a rough weekend in January. FUCK CANCER!
