The No. 8 Oregon Ducks have dropped another special-edition tie-dye uniform, this time called "Grateful Ducks," as the schools is celebrating the Grateful Dead and the iconic band's relationship with Eugene and Autzen Stadium.

The Ducks are wearing a black "Generation O" uniform, but the tie-dye jersey numbers and helmet accents are where the Grateful Dead come in. The helmet features dancing Ducks in a rainbow, akin to the Grateful Dead's famous dancing bears.

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was featured in the uniform release, which was dropped a few days earlier than the team's usual Wednesday release. The kickoff time for Wisconsin vs. Oregon has been announced for 4 p.m. PT, meaning the tie-dye will have a chance to shine under the lights after sunset.

Someone spiked the Gator-Ade!

i don't get it. what do they do with all the barely used ones they keep marking?

They messed up the swoosh bolt

>>>They messed up the swoosh bolt

No they didn't, OMG that's the Nike logo mixed into the bolt

Good Grief, I'm embarrassed

I guess they are getting us back for all those Air Jerry t shirts back in the day.

These really leave a lot to be desired IMO

What happened to the guys who designed the furry dancing bear dunks? Where did they go? Those shoes hit.

WTAF even is that abomination of a stealie/duck/17 pointed swoosh?

bah

If I was the coach of that team, not only would they lose almost every game, the uniforms would have a logo of a giant bowl of Kool-aid with the phrase, "Take It Kesey" above it.

Not sure if I should puke or be proud. Uof O class of  '82. At one point in the 90's, U of O banned more shows at Autzen, citing rampant pot smoking. Eugene Police commented they would "rather work ten Dead shows than one Ducks game" because of the lack of problems at Dead shows vs. a football game. Later, U of O administration recognized the reality of lodging, restaurants, bars etc. sold out with in 50 miles during the shows, and said "uh, never mind", and allowed the circus back in town.

Nike is also selling a Ducks/GD collab sneaker.

Espn weighing in this morning...Oregon's Grateful Dead-themed threads lead top Week 9 college football uniforms

The Grateful Dead have a deep connection to the Ducks' home city of Eugene -- the band played at Autzen Stadium 10 times between 1974 and 1994. Over the summer, Oregon announced that the stadium theme -- a "tie-dye out" -- for the school's Week 9 game against the Badgers would honor the band.

Fittingly, the Ducks' uniforms this week will draw upon similar themes. At first glance, the Grateful Ducks threads look like a simple enough black-and-green Oregon combination. But the details are both plentiful and aesthetically excellent.

Most notably, the green numbers and the trademark "O" logos on the helmet contain tie-dye patterns. The jersey shoulders contain distinct patches that mix the school's colors with the band's "Steal Your Face" motif. Inside the collar and on the back of the helmet is a line of the Grateful Dead's "dancing bears" -- swapping in ducks for the bears.

A naked pole humper guy halftime tribute would be poignant.
