We like to pick up ornaments from the National Parks we visit.  Anybody else have a unique collection or something special they bring out for whatever Holliday they celebrate?

I don't know where any of mine are, but I'd like to see more. Anyone?

I see you killed a tree to put a Sequoia and Kings NP ornament on it! Nice job! You really haven't a clue!

Thank's Dad!

They do grow the trees on tree farms. I'm guessing that he didn't jack it from the national park itself.

Merry Christmas Creek or Kirley or whomever you are since you're to afraid to be honest.

Yeah, don't fuck up a Christmas ornament thread, for Christ sakes. And I'm a fucking Jew who generally hates the season!

I like the sequoia ornament...how many parks ya got represented th?

We've got a few Yosemite, Independence Hall, Sequoia, Kings Canyon,Golden Gate, Bushkill Falls.  I think that's it so far.

I've seen all the best places.

We've got quite a few Disney ones too Slack.

The shiny Ahwahnee one is such a contrast with the real building (which I've only seen in pictures). The earthy rustic stone and wood is so beautiful and right for the place.

I love that you guys have mementos of your travels and experiences. Slacker, do you have a Tinker Bell one? For some unknown reason I always thought she was kind of cool.

Tink's on the top. Her wings light up and change colors.

That's perfect! Is she saying your house is among the happiest places on Earth?

I love Christmas Tree ornaments! They represent so much life lived with the continual promise of more to come. Almost a family timeline of sorts. So living outside of Washington, Dc, I always pick up the official White House ornament released each year.  http://shop.whitehousehistory.org/christmas?cat=4&p=1  I have about 16 of those. There's a couple handfuls of handmade ornaments that the kids made in kindergarten and the early grades (hand prints, pictures, drawings) , Have been in the habit of picking up ornaments from vacations over the years. So lots of beach themes, london, mexico, Ireland. Lots of various snowmen ornaments as Carolyn collects snowmen things,  I have a crazy, awesome aunt who sends me a Hallmark ornament every year and I have every one since I was 8 years old to now (40 years). Couple of lladro bells and 1 Waterford, a few Russian cloisonnes. Have Dallas Cowboys, Redskins (boo) Baltimore Ravens, and 4 or 5 grilling related theme ornaments. (funny that I have no music related ornaments, not sure how that happened)) Each person in the household has a theme, so like the snowmen I mentioned we have cows (dad), pigs (daughter 1), giraffes (daughter 2), hot sauce ornaments (son 1). School related ornaments JMU and W&M. I would say the ornaments are almost half and half of one's we've bought or were received as gifts. Always nice to remember who gave us what, remember when???

I enjoy taking my daughter  each year to pick up the tree, we're very picky. I'm in charge of purchase and setting it up in stand, putting on the lights and then the wooden cranberry beads. The girls always do the ornaments, then I set the topper. Tree toppers could be a category of their own :)

"God bless us, every one!",

Happy Holidays Zoners!!!

All sounds very familiar, Fafa....thanks for sharing...i can feel your xmas spirit from here.

IMG_5977.JPGWhen we were growing up my mom bought us an ornament every year. When we each moved out, she gave us each all of our ornaments and spit special family ones between us.. now I do the same thing every year.

I got my first White House ornament this year and will definitely continue to collect them each year as well.

we also have tons the kids have made on the tree too.

we made these this year for the kids teachers.

Scarlet, so good to see you here. You're making a lot of great traditions with your guys!

My Mom has been giving special ornaments to each of my children every year since the year of their births.  She knows someone who can pretty much make whatever she asks for.

In no particular order, Kai has thirteen, which ranges from a Star, Bob the Builder, Garbage Truck, Fire Truck, Snake, Army Tank, Campground Scene, Kingfisher (bird), Hammer & Anvil, Soccer Ball & Cleats, and some others I can't remember at this moment (too dark to check the tree)

Ruby (born near X-mas) has a Stork with baby, Teddy Bear in Stocking, Polar Bear, Kitty, Unicorn, Ladybug (her early nickname), Paintbrush w/ Paint Splatters, and some others (as above).

Very cool tradition that each kid looks forward to every year.  And they enjoy remembering what some of their favorite things/subjects were when they were younger.

Cool Ornaments Mr. Hoover.

My X-Mas tree is usually adorned with the shrunken Heads of folks who(m) behaved rudely at the Concert Venue or displayed poor driving tactics.

But this year, I'm going with Shiny Things from Yesteryear.

We went with a mini tree this year. Mini ornaments. Looks pretty cool

Here are some of my favs ! Every ornament has a memory or story behind it..:)  I also give my 3 nieces an ornament each year, something that reminds me of them,,,they love it !

This first one is from MTN JAM ( when Phil, Panic and Mule headlined )....I got it in town and the potter told me it is made from the clay of Hunter Mtn :)
