Our new band needs a name

Forums:

Greetings fellow zoners, our new band has enough songs to start booking gigs (Old World Deli in Corvallis June 29th, ex), but coming up with a name that hasn't already been used has been extremely difficult.

Currently we're 2 electic guitar players and a washtub bass.  We've got well over 100 years combined experience playing locally, so a long list of friends who will likely sit in (percussionists, female vocalist, violin, lap steel guitar, horns, etc).

The problem is coming up with a name that hasn't already been used!  We do a bunch of originals (many styles, ska, latin rock,  Doo-wop, twangy hillbilly stuff, etc), and a bunch of covers, including many Grateful Dead songs, and songs the Dead covered.

Some of the names we've come up with that are open, but didn't strike the heart strings;  The Knob Nosters, Husky Hiker and the Gold Nuggets, on and on. (Husky Hiker Mining is one of my side gigs)

Currently, the first name we all agreed on was "The Skadeadles" (Ska Dead les),  but i've upgraded that to "The Psyskadeadlics" (Psy Ska Dead Lics).  I'll be introducing that at Thursdays practice.

Any suggestions for band names???

>100 years combined experience..

Centenarians

The Venus Flytraps

I also posted this query on FB, which got me to thinking (the ska part gets a lot of attention, both good and bad), so...

"The Psychedeadlics"

Psycho Dead Licks?

Fits my playing, lol

I used to own the CoolColoradoRain URL always surprised more people don't use and I'm pretty sure it's in the public domain.

so, in the end, you chose your own name?

lol

Ska- dead- les , diggit.

Yesterday, I was playing a copy of the Surfari's first LP on Decca Records. the one with "Wipeout", and I flashed on the thought that there should be a band of Rastas playing Reggae covers of Surf Music classics called The Sur-Far-Is.  Maybe it's already been done?

Bunch of good names suggested at different places I post, think my faves were the Psychedeadlics, Psychodeadlicks,  Psyskadedlics, lol, but alas, one member didn't like them, so we stuck with Skadeadles....

Yesterdays practice, a bunch of covers and a few originals;

And the pic we'll likely use (got the most likes on FB);

A pic might be worth 1k words, but it doesn't tickle my ears or make me want to dance. Gotta link to some tuneage?

We've done some crude recordings, but nothing shareable yet...   We're about to take a break for members to visit elder family, chase eclipses, then we'll reconvene in April.  Hopefully find some technology to record the May shows.

Strolling Thunder ?

What? You passed on "Phil's Chair"?

It's comfie, always there when you need it, and hopefully supports musicians in their old age. Just like the music you play.  (It even has rainbow overtones.)

I guess you don't want people confusing it with "Phil's Stool". I understand.

"Old Guys by a Tree"

I need to get a stool for stage, as i'm the kid in the band (62 later this year), the other 2 members are around 70... bad backs are everywhere (and ankles, knees, attitudes, lol)

But naming the band "Phils stool" just doesn't have the same ring to it....

But we're on FB now;

LOLOLOL

Just added a gig in Salem, part of the "Make Music Salem" celebration on Friday June 21st.  We're tentatively at BeeHive Food Court Pod, 4 - 6pm, so getting closer to Portland!

All gigs in Corvallis unless otherwise noted...   the private party has 3 bands, should be fun (near Monmouth).  Email me if interested.  Any help getting us in Portland or Eugene be much appreciated!!!
