OSF is a non-profit dedicated to digitizing and otherwise preserving and protecting the vast Bear Archives, thousands of hours of vintage SBDs from dozens of 70's of 60's lumiaries...
Tune In, Turn On & Drop Out to 99.5 WBAI-FM Tonight 1:00 - 3:00 AM (EDT), also Streaming Globally Live at www.wbai.org 'Morning Dew's Don Grossinger recently did an interview with Starfinder, Augustus Owlsley Stanley's son and president of the Owsley Stanley Foundation. Their first release, of bluegrass immortals Doc & Merle Watson, has just been made ready for sale and it sounds magnificent. Starfinder was open to all sorts of questions about his dad, the legendary Owsley, the likes of which I've never heard before. Music to follow interview.
Great interview! What an awesome project. Bear is a national treasure, without these recordings, some of the most beautiful art ever made would be left in the memories of the few that heard the shows. Thank you Bear for recording and Starfinder for preserving these moments in time.
Really wish they would have released like an edited two cd version or something like that. Seven discs is a little overkill and expensive. Getting ready to stream the 90 minute version on Tidal, that sounds like the perfect amount...
Incredible sound quality, I must say. Even thru streaming, you really get the vibe and feel of it. Gonna have to breakdown and buy this after all, glad I gave it a listen!

I love me some Doc and Merle and have been spinning their stuff for years.
Have many a live recording.
Saw Doc a bunch and even got to hand him a CD on which I recorded Deep River Blues.
One seriously gifted musician he was and Merle was no slouch.
Starfinder Owsley is Owsley's son and is the Chairman of the Owsley Foundation.
He's also a San Francisco based veterinarian.
