Just one more reason why I love Paris:

Those things are a scourge. They get left wherever, often blocking business entrances. As the article references, they can be a menace to pedestrians. I'm curious what payment the companies deploying them are making to the municipalities they are used in, and where that money is going?

They are here in Eugene and the riders leave them just fucking anywhere; across sidewalks, on wheelchair/baby stroller cut outs at corners, everywhere and anywhere. Sort of thing that makes me crazy. I think Portland may have outlawed them, or else people just threw them in the river as an action. Something happened.

I am doing a flash mini tour
I am doing a flash mini tour in Europe for the next couple of weeks and Paris is one of the stops. The banning of those dumb pay scooters is welcome news. They are a nuisance. I wish they would ban them in San Francisco. Instead they are putting robot taxi cabs on the streets.

Yeah. lots of "litter." I'm torn, because I like seeing transportation alternatives, but yeah, the inconsiderate leave them all over. Seems like we have to look at spoiled millenial's play toys. Where did this idea come from that we can just leave shit all over and hope someone else picks it up?
Even if they're not usually inconsiderate, like my friendly across the street neighbor who still has a lime green one on his sidewalk in front of his house from Thursday night's Ute game that I get to look at. Our street is a pedestrian freeway and I just shake my head 'cause it's in the way. The neighbor in the wheelchair will just have to knock it over, I guess. Nothing I'm gonna get too excited about, but if I had a vote sometime.......

Didn't this practice get started in the Netherlands with free bicycles you could randomly pick up and then leave off anywhere? I don't recall ever hearing any criticism of that. Just the opposite.
