There are all kinds; office, street, cul-de-sac, neighborhood.

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Jupiter Inlet Colony Beach Club Recital, great food and drink, paid for and hosted by Jason Newsted, and supported by 150-200 friends from South Florida. Even Bobby Ritchie walked down from his house for a bit to show his face.

Jason played a 3 hour set with one 10 minute break backed by his ChopHouse Band, which morphs slightly depending if he is at his home in SF or here in the Colony.
The talent on the stage was thick, with a setlist full of classic Dylan, Prine, Young, Zep, Isbell, Son House, Devil Makes Three, Cash, Guthrie, Stanley.

Jason supplied all the gear for everyone, and his gear is strong, old Gibsons, Old Martins, classic teles, bass guitars i dont even know, he must have a friend at Heritage, because there were a few newer Hertiage models, a great Gretch/Rogers mixed up kit, and classic amps.

From what i recall now.

after the ChopHouse Band finished, and another 10 minute break, he hit the stage again with a band of misfits from the neighborhood, guys who have only been playing for about 3-4 yrs, yet meet in Jasons music room every Wednesday and jam. POTD(Phantom of the Deep) they were called and they hit us with 30 minutes of original heavy rock and roll with beach life influence lyrics.

It was good night.

Until next December's Full Moon.....

How was your party?

Cool story. I thought Jason Newsted had died and was replaced in Metallica, so I'm happy to hear I was wrong and that he's enjoying beach life and making music for fun with all the other retirees in Florida.

Just returned from the Elementary School Holiday showcase. Nice renditions of We 3 Kings (with kazoos), Jingle Bells, and a Strings / Percussion Rock song.  Tamales were good homemade variety, but they ran out of coffee.

this year at the company party i spun some 74 keystone, a little ray charles, a little beach boys, and it's a holiday soul party by sharon jones (rip) and the dap-kings.

The only holiday parties I attend have open bars involved

The Party.

Cool thread.

Going to the party tonight for the weekly paper my wife does part time editing for.  Last year we had a jam but not tonight as "people didn't like it".  They wanted xmas musak, not americana-ish jamming.

Not drinking on doctors orders.  Will have a bowl before going.

Expect to be bored and counting the moments until I can leave.

A lot of those types of parties are like that, Aiq. Bet last year was a blast.

We had our shop party for our tampa field workers (electricians) and tampa admin last friday. Some good bar b q, corn hole, football toss, and a lot of tools, TVs, and generators as door prizes. I got pulled over on the way home going 86 in a 50mph zone, and the cop only wrote me up for 9 mph over the speed limit, merry christmas.

Tomorrow is our office party in Orlando and that should be pretty fun with door prizes, dinner, drinks and a band. I will show up and cut out early, maybe hit the applebees for some pie and ice cream on the way home

A good friend of mine grandpa owned a house in Jupiter Inlet Colony (JIB Club). We were in our early 20's. I can not even begin to tell you the good times we had in that mansion.

Grandpa was only there 2 or 3 days every other month. It was my second home on every weekend. Three cars including a Jaguar, five bedrooms, huge pool, three boats. Gravity bongs, booze, broads and fresh snook. Good good times.

And here I thought it was about this movie

You know it's a good party when the corn-holin' starts.

Bob, that was the exact image in my head.

lI was calm when we arrived at the party

I spoke with fervor, embracing the evening
My wife leaned over and she whispered 'I love you'
I held her close - we danced

We had the best time at your party
The wife and I thank you very much
We had the best time at your party
The wife and I thank you very much

Creampuffs and bourbon and the music was louder
My wife was competing in a game of chance
The party raged and the guests were screaming
I could have danced all night

We had the best time at your party
The wife and I thank you very much
We had the best time at your party
The wife and I thank you very much

Later on when we were under the covers
I closed my eyes, then I drifted to sleep
I dreamt about me maybe throwing a party
And just how great that would be

And we said
We had the best time at your party
The wife and I thank you very much
We had the best time at your party
The wife and I thank you very much

My Christmas party was Strings and Sol.

it was the BEST.
