People who blame others @ black jack table ...

Forums:

... when they see someone who isn't playing things "by the book" - claiming how they screwed up their hand.

Kind of like blaming people who voted for Jill Stein or Gary Johnson?

OP doesn't understand odds.

And no, it's nothing like your political example and I'm not going to tell you why, either.

I understand odd well enough, but you haven't stated your case.

People who don't understand basic blackjack strategy should stay away from the blackjack table.

Fucking animals.

Card ain't yours 'till you're dealt it.  That's the bad news, and the good news.

I picture the OP as just wandering through life totally befuddled by almost everything.

If you can explain what "everything" "really" "is", I'm all ears.

assholes to the left of me, jokers to the right...here i am, stuck in the middle with you....(seems to permeate thru  my head whenever i  play blackjack...various adjectives always at play)

OP, you might want to stick to slots possibly roulette if you're feeling edgy.

I don't really gamble much at all anymore, haven't for at least 20 years ... but the thought occurred to me that people who are "calling out" those who voted for 3rd party candidates instead of Hillary as being culpable are applying a very similar "hindsight is 20/20" take on things as do those who blame individuals' decisions for the fate of everyone at the black jack table

apples to oranges, very off base.

there is a count to be kept if you're serious.

This thread needs Northernlites & tofuhead.

This thread actually reminds me of a time a number of years ago when I was playing at a four-deck table in a ratty Indian casino in the Bay Area, passing the time while my dear mother was playing the slots. There were only three 21 tables, the kind of place where only the most degenerate gamblers play cards, and I asked a guy to my left who was betting $500 a hand about this issue because I didn't want to make a mistake and screw him over/get myself hurt.

He said, "With a four-deck deal it's all gambling. Do what you want, I won't get pissed."

I appreciated that but I still never hit when the dealer was showing a low card.

And I believe I lost a number of hands that way.

It seems to me that four-deck tables are anything goes.

But then I rarely play, and I always bet the minimum.

It seems to me that four-deck tables are anything goes<<<

In Vegas, most tables have a shoe that contains 6-8 decks ... so 4winds assertion of "couting" (for the serious) is a nebulous task at best.

Moreover, are not the "odds" skewed in one's favor between oneself (as a player) and that of the dealer in STRICTLY in terms of one's decision to hit or stick?  Likewise, does not said decision mostly only affect the "point of entry" from the deck from which the dealer will begin their own draw vs. significantly affecting the total card count?

Have yet to hear anything of substance vs. an allusion to "the way it is" re: people not playing by the book screwing it up for the rest of the table.  It's kind of amazing ... almost like a window into the psychology of when people just accepted that the Sun revolved around the Earth or accused others of being "witches".

Screw the rest of the table!

If u are at a five dollar table complaining about the way peeps play ..u r a tool...

I was just in vegas playing 2 deck black jack dealt by hand.  you need to play by the "rules" or yes you will screw others at the table.  I liked the 2 deck very much.  slowed down the game and you could actually keep track of the cards.  I had better luck playing craps.

you need to play by the "rules" or yes you will screw others at the table<<<

Still haven't heard any explanation as to how or why.

for example, say the dealer is showing a "3".  You need to assume the dealer has 13.  the dealer has to hit and the expectation or odds are that they will bust.  Therefore, even if you have 13, you should stay so when the dealer hits, he gets the high cards and busts.  you don't want the guy at the end of the table hitting and pulling a ten or face card - you want the dealer getting those cards.

i don't like gambling.

^^ of course, said players NEVER, EVER, say a word, when you take that hit....its an 8....giving you 21, and dealer pulls a ten, or face card, and busts, knowing, had you passed , the 8 was his.....others at table just rake their winnings in....without saying shit....so, again, in 6-8 deck table?...just dont sit to right of Tony Soprano, and you should do what ya feel is right....(all said assuming player knows a lil more than "basic" blackjack rules)

you don't want the guy at the end of the table hitting and pulling a ten or face card - you want the dealer getting those cards<<<

You've provided an example of a possible scenario, but as Jambone alludes to ... that ten or face card the end guy might pull could easily be some other card.  If the end guy happens to pull a ten and the dealer then gets an 8, do you really believe the ordering of the cards was somehow "caused" by the hands of the players at the table?

If the deck has been shuffled into a random state, isn't every draw a wide open possibility based upon the remaining cards in the deck vs. a product of what cards are currently on the table?

I haven't gambled in a long time. What is it now, a six deck shoe?

Bump, for someone on the zone recently alluding to a 3rd party vote somehow being responsible for Trump winning.
