No, you don't have to do that anymore, Turtle.

Making assumptions about people's immune status or their personal and/or family needs when you know nothing about them except you saw them walking a dog in a park ?  Interesting.

For sure

Studies show that it is very unlikely that one could contract Covid from a fleeting contact with someone else outdoors.   Still, I have no problem wearing masks outdoors when there other people around just as matter of basic courtesy.

Tatters seems easily triggered by those who deems as Libs. Black lives matter most likely also gets under his skin.

<<Still, I have no problem wearing masks outdoors when there other people around just as matter of basic courtesy.

I think its dumb but I do it without complaint as an act of respect and goodwill towards all of my fellow Americans who have died.

Most people walking in my neighborhood either are wearing their mask or have it at the ready. I start out without wearing it but have found that once I put it on while walking around I tend to leave it on. If someone isn't wearing a mask others (including me) give them wide berth.

I find it unnecessary for health reasons but do carry one around for when I walk by someone as a gesture of respect for who I'm walking by.

Definitely laughable but I can't say I haven't been stoned AF and forgot to take a mask off after running into a store for an errand.

One thing I feel masks should be used for are on the narrow trails in the park across from my house.  I like to walk on the trails and when a runner jobs by panting/breathing heavy I can't help but hold my breath.

You aren't catching covid passing someone on the street.  Wide berth or not.  Is science, look it up.

As neighbors walking the neighborhood people often stop to talk. If it gives someone a more secure feeling in an otherwise insecure time, no reason not to put your mask on so they feel better. A huge reason we wear masks is for others, science or not.

are you vaxxed?

At the coast, everyone was wearing masks on the 804 trail in Yachats, except one very large man in camouflage (and his lady)...   meanwhile, was much rarer to see them in SW Oregon, anywhere.  Here in Corn valley most people where them in town, and have available on the trails...  though one friend, who's gotten a little, um, off lately, started giving people crap about not wearing masks on the hiking trials.  He started to get a reputation on some of the local internet boards...   eventually he must of crossed a line, got beat up by some young'ns, broke his leg (not badly).

Racket's such a rebel, and reckless too.

I have one around my neck when I'm walking my dog and pull it up when I pass someone, mostly for courtesy's sake.

Despite popular 21st Century public opinion & actions to the contrary, there's nothing wrong with courtesy, even if just for courtesy's sake.

Plus, it warms my face on cool evenings.

Health insurance rates would probably plummet if people wore masks more often. People just aren't getting sick.

Talking courtesy on the black screen, Lance? What are you smoking?

I really don't mind wearing a mask. The only place it bothers me is at the gym, and only if I'm doing particularly heavy sets or really high reps.

The thing is it's just not that big of a deal, and it's sure not a political statement, unless you decide to make it one.

since you mentioned health insurance...

for 2 of us

we went from $179/ monthly without dental

to $42

add $51 for dental

first 100 days ain't sucking

keep on truckin'

Dental insurance is a waste of money.  Just sayin'

Yeah, when my dental insurance pays 80% of the crown I'm getting tomorrow, I'm sure I'll be complain about how much of a waste of money it is.

One day my neighbor and I were complaining about how big a waste of money our flood insurance was. Two days later we all got flooded in Irene. After the $200k bill hit, I never complained again.

I agree mike

we've had a year+ to deal

respect and manners go a long way in society

if you try to bully your way into real family values

its a different fight

but a fight nonetheless

custie or not

How much longer will mask-wearing edicts be in place in public spaces?

Through this Fall I'd guess.

It's a pretty well known fact about dental insurance, specifically.  But carry on.

cool

didnt need dental until now

thanks for your hard earned dollars

im sure it paid for it some way right (winky)

If I have several errands in a row in the car a few minutes apart I often leave  the mask on in the car - easier than the repeated off and on.

I'm very OK with wearing a mask.  Only time it's a little annoying for me is if the air is humid, which is rare in California.

I sometimes keep my mask on when I'm driving solo.  Often, it's because I forgot to take it off.  I also put it on when I get close to where I will leave my car (for efficiency).

This reminds me of my childhood friend's father, who was a scientist and determined that, logically, it would be safer to wear a bike helmet while driving his car.  We gave our friend so much crap at the time, but it actually makes sense to me.

And who really wants to be normal?

Also, my wife, who has been experiencing seasonal allergies for years, has not had symptoms over the last year.

Was it the mask that protected her from all of that airborne stuff?

I think that, from now on, I'm not going to think that anyone wearing a mask is strange (well there might be some strange masks out there).

It's the real life equivalent of people who use "lulz" as an expression on the internet

Masks outdoors>>

It's pretty pointless. Wearing an N95 for long periods of time when it's very hot is probably dangerous as well.

^So is being a loser, that calls Women the C word.yes

You come across as a good person JR and this is certainly a noble expression of the human spirit.

Yet this pandemic has been so grossly mismanaged by the WHO and our respective governments and health leaders that it would be comical, if not for the deaths. So we ignore much of the sound data that is available and develop idiotic policies that don't do anything or in many cases are counterproductive. Like closing down parks and beaches and telling people to hide in their houses. Absolute lunacy.

On the surface it seems harmless but at the same time creates a sort of worthless bouillabaisse where many people don't know what to do and what is real or not. It also pushes the worst offenders (flag wavers who think their liberty is being taken away) to dig in further.

So it goes.

Yes what good is something if I can't experience outrage over it

Rabble Rabble Rabble!!!!

I call men the "c" word too. All the garbage people talk on here who knew that would be a word against viva rules, lol.

RRG,

Piss off. Thanks.

Fauci ‘not sure’ why Texas doesn’t have COVID uptick after nixing masks

It’s been some five weeks since Texas lifted its mask mandate, and there has yet to be an explosion of COVID-19 cases. It’s something Dr. Anthony Fauci can’t quite explain.

“I’m not really quite sure,” he told MSNBC this week. “It could be they’re doing things outdoors.”
