People You Wana See In Eternity

Forums:

The recent afterlife conversations and the brother Howie thread got me to thinking, after we pay the final tab down here, who whould you like to do some hanging with in the big gig in the sky ? That Howie sounds like a total fun blast, so he's near the top of my list along with all of you.

So besides the obvious, Jimi - Jesus - Einstein + Pigpen, who would you like to bump into up yonder ?

Tell my sweet baby, please don't cry (great line, dickey knows his destination - afterlife)

We'll reach the end we'll all be singin and we'll all be friends

Back where it all begins

I'm not a gambling man, but I will bet on a sure thing from time to time. Seeing people in eternity isn't what I'd call a sure thing, but encountering people here in life surely is.

If I'm overly focused on what might be, I might miss something that's happening right now.

it depends..... do people wear clothes in eternity or are they naked?

NOT MY EX!!!

I hope she burns in Hell!

Raz....do you really think they want to hang with you?

Maybe Jimi - Jesus - Einstein + Pigpen want to be with their friends and family, not on display for your personal pleasure. Very myopic.

Gonna have a cock-tail....Vodka and Ginger Ale

Gonna smoke a cigarette that's 9 miles long.....

Didn't order a t-shirt when I very first saw this and they ran out and are not reprinting. Damn. Why the hell not?

I saw John Waite when he was in The Babys 4th 0f July 1979 at a festival in Rockford, Il. Everyone ignored them when they were playing. He got pissed off because of it and said, "What do you all read books!"

If I could go back in time I would have yelled back "Maybe you should read one to write a better song".

Eternity?

Sorry, I don't buy this eternity thing. When you're dead you're done.

And that's a good thing.

I wouldn't want to be anywhere for forever.

Surf and Judit. Think you missed the point.

Hell, I don't believe in an afterlife either. This was not about that. More of a "what if" kind of thing. Harmless.

I don't think I missed the point of the words used in the OP. Don't words mean what they are?

"Afterlife", "up yonder", "big gig in the sky" - I have none of those, especially as relates to heaven or life after death. I was not raised with those concepts and still don't have them.

For those who do, proceed.

In 2003 I was under some stress for a reason and I had a VERY lucid dream one night where I was in heaven. I was in a rectangular room with like 6 people with benches on either side of the room and I imagine was me and my family were sitting there, The Joy and Love I felt eminating from there in that dream was so palpable and lucid. Like I was given a gift to see and feel that feeling. I know it was real. Never had a dream so real and lucid ever. Never felt in a dream except fear from bad dreams. But this dream was soooo real and lucid.

Hahaaaaaa hey nonbelievers,, your vacant upbringing is  not the point of the thread, but troll if you feel you must.

It must be an kind of an empty feeling admitting you have no soul tho, very sad.

I bet you can't dance worth a shit either.

Brent + Mark Twain I'd also enjoy running into.

No trolling here - my post was not personal at all, Just stating my opinions.

Yours, however...

"your vacant upbringing"

"must be an kind of an empty feeling "

"I bet you can't dance worth a shit either"

...is flat-out personal.

“Eternity?” said Frankie Lee
With a voice as cold as ice
“That’s right,” said Judas Priest, “Eternity
Though you might call it ‘Paradise’”
“I don’t call it anything”
Said Frankie Lee with a smile
“All right,” said Judas Priest
“I’ll see you after a while”

If I'm overly focused on what might be, I might miss something that's happening right now.<<<

Or, inherently look upon that which is happening right now as a "means to an end".

When death comes individual consciousness is gone. Energy and chemicals recycled.

That's your eternity.

See, a new religion.  Better get yours here on earth.

There ya go!

The truth according to aig.

Where were you 1000's of years ago when all the Prophets were preaching!?laugh

For eternity,  a damn fine story teller.

No trolling here, either, I saw that meme after reading this thread and saw there are even more ways of looking at the topic. I'm sorry if anyone felt trolled, it wasn't personal.

Ras, what you are saying is indeed personal, and reflects either your lack of knowledge of religions other than your own or willingness to harrass people from other religions or who don't share yours.

There is no eternity, heaven or hell taught in Judaism. Harassing Jews or anyone else for their religion is wrong and dangerous stuff.

I'd want to meet and greet some people, say "thank you" to a great many, but no fucking way could i stand anyone for eternity.  No one is that special and I'm a bit of a loner.

Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.

I'll just say it. I don't want to see any of you fuckers for eternity.

I'll play along:

Under the assumption that you are reunited with those who have gone before you upon your end of consciousness in this realm:

My father

Mike; no more free readings for you!!!

~~~~~~(:
And yea don't be a dick ras!
 Obviously there are endless beliefs around death both religious and non so to judge anyone else is just ridiculous
The title of this thread could be interpreted as folks you wanted to see dead (Putin, Trump, people who talk tooooo much during shows,  nasty trolls, robocallers, disney on ice, etc), vs personal party in heaven... (I bet the finger food is great, wonder who does the catering?)
Last time I was asked what I thought the afterlife would be like, I said it'll be similar to what it was like before being born...
Gotta say dead relatives. I'd want to hear all about what they did to best provide an existence and foundation for me and my children to survive and possibly prosper.
Celebrities: JFK, Malcolm X, Jefferson (gotta talk about the slavery paradox), Franklin; lots of cool people
Peace.
> Last time I was asked what I thought the afterlife would be like, I said it'll be similar to what it was like before being born
Bingo.
This.
Here's an idea for a scifi book/movie:
When you die you find out that the afterlife is just like this life, with a few key differences. For instance, women in this afterlife don't normally get pregnant (obviously, since they get their population from discovering woken-up dead people in the special places where they show up). However, one women does get pregnant, and the powers that be are after her. The newly woken from death folks show up cured of their illnesses and injuries, but are thereafter subject to entropy same as here.
If anyone wants to write it I'll be waiting for my cut. smiley
Seems like you could start your own religion with that, Surfdead, just don't have the woman be a virgin birth. That one has been done before.
