My puppy adoption from last week fell thru. I was to pick him up today in New Jersey. About 20 mins after the heartbreaking news, we got a call from a foster home here in Ct. Say hello to Salem from the sunny state of Georgia. Crashing hard after his 1st yard romp and kitchen sink bath.

My guy made a skunk friend last week, at 8:30 pm on a 15 degree night. That was a joy! Good thing I keep a couple of bottles of Smunk Away handy at all times.

He didn't really get a ton in his face and eyes, mostly on his chest. He managed to sneak up on it and grab it by the neck, and it sprayed him as he was shaking it to death. The worst of it hit the chest plate of his brand new harness, which was unsalvageable.

Oh, congrats on Salem. He's a cutie.

Congratulations on the new addition. Enjoy!

You'd think, Ned, but he's just derping after some energetic play.

kitty looks to be in a good "place", Mike. ;-) edit: just saw your answer

nice adoption, Ras!

this is Abe, my friend's new lab pup. His "old" lab died young at age 7 from cancer, so this guy is the new addition to the grow family. i get to be the uncle.

Ras: Congratulations to you and your new furry family member!

Gus and I have been hitting the caffeine pretty hard this week...

Gus coffee.jpg

^ morning coffee cat ? I love it. Is he on the computer proofreading your work ,, niiiiiiice. Looks like I have more training to do.

Thanks for the pup well wishes, since he's shown up, my life is soo enriched. I have to admit, the last 6 months since our dear Brutus passed were pretty fucking lame and unfulfilling for me ,,,, sorry if I was more the asshole than normal. Our pets really bring out the best in us. Today's goal - strive a bit harder to become the person my pup thinks I am.

It's kind of ironic, but our pets really humanize us.

Great stuff, pholks.

Wish I wasn't so techno-lame/lazy or I'd put up the 2 "Tuxedo cats" I snagged out of my alley that were left behind by dirtbag renter's... insanely loving and smart cat's that have completely changed the dynamic of working from home the last year, after my cat passed in the summer of '19.

Earl, if you'd like me to post a couple of pics for you, shoot me an email with them attached, and I'll post them up. My address is in my profile.

Hüsky went Long Walkies in the Woods today -- we were looking for "Shed Antlers".  The Deer drop their horns this time of year.

Didn't find any,  but he got to go through Deer trails and play in some muddy streams.

Careful feeding your cats & dogs Coffee.  Supposedly it's not so good for them.  The worst (potential toxic event) is if they chew up coffee grounds.  Watch out for Avocado rinds as well.

^ Niiiiiiiiiiiice stu, our last spring's find at the base of a maple tree freshly dropped

Congratulations on the new adoption.

Mine tolerate each other.

Very kind of you, Mike, but I'm so lame I can't even download the new(er) critters from my Iphone.

You kids will have to trust me that I have the sweetest and coolest two cat's on the planet. "Tuxedo cats" rule.

MarkD your dog is gorgeous- making a look like you probably had when we met and started pokin' around here 100 years ago...  ;-)

Thanks Earl.  Been a long strange trip, eh?

The Puppies are all sooo Darn cute.  Thanks Zoners,  for giving them a Cushy place to crash and a taste of Kibble.
Hüsky loves the Puppies.  His Papa instinct takes over,  and He teaches them how to Fight and steal People food.

King of the mancave guest chair. Salem is the cutest little fucker you've ever seen in your life (next to your own pets of course),, and I mean little. My buddy came over yesterday with his new lab pup, the same age, but twice the size of our little guy. Not sure what the hell he is, we may do a dna test. His back legs are longer than the front ones, so when he walks he looks like a cross between a baboon and a black bear. The wife calls him monkey butt.

6 Balloons flew over the house yesterday shortly after sunrise. One had a hard time rising above the trees, but the pilot really knew what he was doing and got er up to the air needed.

Cool Acorn Squash Balloon.

He's just getting used to his big front paws.  The initial step is sometimes too much for a little one.

As he gets older you'll see some marking and you'll be able to identify the cross.  Good luck with the new addition.

^ great job on the track master,,, now I can get in some proper training for this years pet-o-lympics.

Higher quality facility than the NCAA Women hoopsters. I especially dig the sound effects

Think your dog is bad ? Meet Prancer the demon chihuahua of Jersey.

Going once, going twice for the "neurotic, man hating, animal hating, children hating" dog who looks like a gremlin.

Still working on his peas and cues, but 1 month in, Salem's shaping up to be a might fine lad

That is a gorgeous pup, Raz.

Beautiful youngster!

Sadly, Gus passed away on 04/03 (peacefully at home), at the ripe old age of 18 years old, which seems pretty good for a 22lb cat.

On a positive note, I have hired a new executive assistant: Gus's twin brother Calvin:

Calvin mug.jpg

lol

Calvin looks just like the pic of Gus you posted recently, Johnny. Face down in the coffee mug. That said, I'm sorry to hear about Gus' passing.

Yes, our standard office orientation for new employees is relatively limited at this time.

Thanks Mike.  Gus was well-loved and he gave back to us two-fold.  He is certainly missed.

BTW: the cats are drinking water, so no abuse reporting needed.

<< Gus

So sorry man,,, pets are the portal to our inner selves,, when we lose one we lose a part of ourselves. But we'll see em all over that Rainbow Bridge. Great job on his longevity.

Thanks Ras.

The losses are painful, but the benefits are priceless.

Be present and enjoy the good stuff.

Took my daughter to get her covid shot at the U of Bridgeport this week,, one block from Seaside Park.

Had to take Salem for a walk and reminisce on all the great GOTV stories.

He especially liked the story from 99 ( Allen Woody's last vibes )  when daddy got ripped during moe and fell off the breakwater onto more rocks in long island sound. Good times sorely missed,, I didn't realize how sore till the next day,, ouch. Great times

Great tennnis ball, pic, Jaz. Your guy has his eye on the prize.

Raz, your Salem is just effin adorable.

sweet pics, y'all

& yay for Salem!

Earl; we also have a tuxedo pair, bro & sis, and, also have no skill to post themlaugh

they are so quirky and sweet, pisceans, just turned 5 on 12 march this year

Got Salem's DNA test back.
He's a true mut,,, a mix of at least10 dogs, (the test goes back 3 generations)

including Boxer, White Swiss Shepherd, Dutch Shepherd, and Lapponian Herder,, all smart and loyal breeds.

His looks and traits mostly resemble 2 on the list,,,  Chow ( China ) and Jindo ( South Korea )

He also has some American Rat Terrier,, that's where he gets his digging and floppy ears from.

We got us an Asian Rat Dog.

Even with puppy p n v,  17 year old Roscoe owns him.

Puppy Love,, life don't get much better. Tomorrow is his 4 month b-day

My damn dog is nothing but trouble and expense.

A couple of months ago my little guy started coughing/hacking on & off, especially when he'd bark. Took him to the vet who said it could be dozens of things, and the only way to be sure is to put him under and take a close look, which starts to get costly.

My pooch is 13, already has some liver & heart issues and the doc didn't really want to anesthetize him, so we tried an antibiotic & a cough suppressant, along with some blood tests.

The drugs seemed to help just a bit, until a couple of weeks ago when he really started struggling with coughing, hacking and even swallowing, clearly in serious discomfort, so fearing the worst I took him back and told the doc to knock him out and take a real look, as the dog was suffering.

They discovered that he had a foxtail lodged behind his tonsil, which has gotten raw and a bit infected. That wasn't the issue from the start but was clearly what had made things go south.

While having him under, the doc was able to get that damned thing out, do multiple X-rays, take some cultures and give him a serious teeth cleaning, which he really needed. The x-rays showed a weakness in his windpipe that was likely connected to his lingering heart issues, and the cultures revealed a chronic condition that had likely lead to the heart issues. With better knowledge my guy was put on a different set of drugs, which has made a significant difference in the past couple of weeks.

$2,200 later the little fucker is so much better and is as happy as I've ever seen him, clearly relieved to be feeling so much better. He's barking his ass off too, I think just because he can again.

I figure I would have spent that money on something if not for that, so I guess (I know) it was money well-spent, and ultimately he's my mom's dog and I know she would have haunted me if I hadn't taken care of him, but still, and as I tell him multiple times every day, he's nothing but trouble.

And that he's a good boy.

When he was feeling  poorly...

Happy again...

^ What cats (continue to) do when their "master" just got home for another sweet bike ride... gotta love her foot on him.  ;-)

And thanks, Mike!

Yeah, Lance, what we'll do for these "unconditional little lover's" is quite compelling... here's hoping your guy has several years left in him and keep's bringing you joy (and laugh's).

Good news Lance. $2200 sounds like a bargain for all that and a good outcome.

My 3 go to the vet in a couple weeks...

Niiiiice job Earl n Lumber and all, pets are da shit.

Nuthin better than good pet owners, and you're one Lance,, spare no expense for the loved ones.

Now I'm a farmer, and I'm diggin diggin diggin diggin diggin ( notice the shredded day lillies )

Now Look Here Son !

Sorry to hear about your little buddy's health problems, Lance, but glad to hear he's better now, despite the major expenditure.
