Phil and Friends on Martha’s Vineyard

Forums:

I’m really excited to see Phil play at the Beach Road Weekend on Martha’s Vineyard on Aug. 11 but I’m surprised by how little it has been discussed. I figured Phil would’ve announced his lineup of friends by now...

You should be excited. Phil is still playing excellent, inspired music, and at this late date that's something to be excited about.

But don't expect much discussion about it, except for some quick derision because it's not 20 years ago, because it's not the Hallowed Q.

Don't worry about that, just get in front of Phil where you can hear him really well and I'm betting you'll walk away satisfied.

GTTS!

Cool line-up, gorgeous island, but WTF ?

This should have been on the mainland, like Ninigret in RI where its also heaven near the ocean, but some regular folks might be able to attend. Such a bitch getting to or around the vinyard once you're there. So many fucking people now.

If you are going -  because of overcrowded roads they limit the number of cars they ferry to the island in summer. Make sure you have a reservation well beforehand if you plan on taking your car over. If you do,  get over to Chappy to 4 wheel on the beach, its a must.  I stopped going there 20 years ago when the amount of yuppie scum invading in summer reached ludicrous amounts.

It's not "a Phil show", but a little beach-side music fest they have there every year - this year they were lucky enough to get Phil. There are a few other bands as well. It's easy to get around without a car - just take the bus. Parking is a major problem. Lots of uncrowded beaches if you don't mind a short hike.

Have a great time Brad!

(Too bad it’s not 1999 though, you’d have had a MUCH better time.)

This is actually the first time they’ve had this fest. And for those worried about driving, if you take the ferry to Vineyard Haven, the festival site is only 100 yards from where the ferry let’s you off.

Turtle, the sharks have definitely been bad here on the scale, especially the last couple years. They’re starting to show up in places they never went to before which is pretty alarming

lol

you’re getting the Terrapin Crossroads dishwashing crew.

Grammy winner Eric Krasno, Cris Jacobs, former frontman for the acclaimed jam band The Bridge, singer songwriter Nicki Bluhm,multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter Jason Crosby, and percussionist John Molo  will join Lesh to headline the final night of the festival at Veterans Memorial Park in Vineyard Haven.
